  • Just noticed the First Credit post. Nicky Campbell interviewed the minister responsible for regulation, Watchdog this week. First Credit was the company named as one of those being investigated.

Oscar68? I thought someone said it was an application form you'd received last night and therefore wasn't enforceable? Ignore if I got that wrong.

    Hi Everyone,
Two things today, 1st one, link financial came up with the original cca! Poo! Shall l make an arrangment to pay this now?
and 2nd moorcrap have just phoned again after putting in writing that they must have got our number by deception and NOT to phone only write, now they've got me all worked up again after going to all the trouble of changing the number etc. l've tried call barring but they cant do individual numbers apparently, so if they phone again l'll just say lm recording the message and see if that gets through to them.

Mmm, just wondering who you can report that to now as obviously they have obtained your new number by other means shall we say? ;)

Also, don't know whether you use BT but Choose to Refuse does block individual numbers. I had to get it last year as a result of these calls. Trouble was it then got filled up with the one's I'd blocked, so had to delete older ones to free up the memory. :D

The only thing C2R won't do is bar witheld numbers after dialing 14258 to bar the last caller; it does sometimes but not others. There is also the other service BT provides to bar witheld numbers. Used to be free, but now you've go to pay.

    Hiya,
We're with the post office, its so annoying that moorcrap have got the number, they said OH gave it to them, bunch of liars, l absolutly hate them, they make you all on edge and lm not feeling brilliant today so not very tolerant!!
  • today so not very tolerant!!

Oh, don't worry I am intolerant most days of the week. Particularly where unfairness is concerned. ;)

Two things. I am pretty certain Moocroft will have breached your right to privacy, Data Protection by obtaining your number in this way. The next is the Post Office should, like any responsible telephone provider, have a nuisance call section. May be worth you dropping them a line, telling them you are having these maliscious calls. Because they are maliscious as they got your number when you changed it hence, as you correctly say, they are doing so by possibly illigitimate means. And that needs to be pointed out to them, possibly via a third party. Hope that made sense. It's harassment plain and simple.

Thanks Merlin, yes l didnt think of them as nuisance calls, even though they are! l'll give that a go.l just think that if you dont get phoned every 5 mins you can think more clearly about how to tackle things and l was much more relaxed, l hope lm not going to get all edgy again cos of them. X

Did you send them the telephone harassment letter?
Click here for Martins (MSE) advice on who to contact with Debt Issues - YOU HAVE NO REASON TO USE A FEE PAYING DEBT MANAGEMENT COMPANY- THEY CANNOT DO ANYMORE FOR YOU THAN THOSE LISTED IN MY LINK ABOVE.

All information given by myself is offered informally and without prejudice - if in doubt seek help from a qualified and insured professional
  • I don't let them anymore. Because that's what they want from you. If you see what I mean? They are playing a psychological game, trying to beat you down until you give in.

I have several creditors and my phone memory would be filled by the end of the day, up to 9 pm, Sundays and so on with the number. One creditor even started up like that straight after being in hospital following a stroke. Nice people, not! ;)

Dammit, I had another harassment letter I spotted this week, slightly stronger than the usual one eg the template one, now can't find it.

    Hi 10past6,
Yes l wrote to them last week and said that they must have obtained my number by deception (bit strong, but hey ho!) and not to phone only write otherwise l will report them for harrassment, this has fallen on deaf ears l think!
  • this has fallen on deaf ears l think!

Afraid that it will. Which is why I suggested reporting them to someone more official. MC will continue to ignore any letters because they will 'perceive' they are in the right because you owe them money. But, always best sending letters, of course, as proof later on should you need to produce it. Paperwork is not something they are fond of keeping in order. ;)

Oh, well I can't find that stronger worded letter I mentioned, so must have forgotten to copy, then save it.
