There are only 3-4 others us going from up north, but they are going friday to monday and i can't justify being away from home for 4 days for one night out, needless to say the others don't have kids!!!
Erin is flower girl and the bride (also from up this way altho originally St Helens) is a good friend or else there is no way i would be making the effort. And believe me it is turning into a major effort!!!!immoral_angeluk wrote: »National express would be £81.80 and take 10 hours with 1 change...:eek:
And that would be a sleeper, can you think of anything worse!!
Payday tomorrow and i have to give Big G £250 to keep aside for me or else i'll have no money at all by the middle of the month and won't be going anywhere....
I so do not need this drama!

Try on the MSE Travel board Maz- look for the split ticketing thread and post your 'needs'. There are some clever souls on there who will find the best way of splitting the tickets up so you get the same journey for less money.

I have a dilemma (bit complicated - bear with me!)
My friend and ex-colleague who is travelling abroad for a year is home this week and has invited me to dinner on Thursday. I thought it was just me, her and another friend who I used to work with.
Turns out it is me, her and about 4 others, all people I used to work with. I'm not overly fussed about going as they will talk shop and it is nearly a year since I escaped but I would like to see my friend before she jets off again (and it is at Cafe Rouge - yum!!!)
I have another ex-colleague who I have kept in contact with regularly and I worked with her for 6 years and she is lovely. She was also made redundant at the same time as me and also knows everyone who has been invited to the meal just as well as I do. The friend who is home from her travels emailed her a few weeks back and suggested the 3 of us get together for a coffee one morning. This hasn't been finalised so I'm guessing it isn't happening.
She hasn't been invited to the meal out and I feel they are being a bit mean. The friend who is home said to me on email 'oh, I dont think X is invited as I wanted to keep it small so we can all chat' - it's only 1 other person! I also feel a bit bad as this person has just emailed me and asked if I've heard when we were getting together for a coffee.
I had to reply I hadn't heard from our jet setting ex-colleague. I haven't - well, not about a coffee for the 3 of us but I will be seeing her for dinner on Thursday so felt awful for lying.
I don't want to lie to my friend that I haven't caught up with the jet setting ex-colleague as she is lovely and she has become a bit house bound now she has a baby. She is also very much lacking in self confidence and if she heard I'd been out with them and not said, she would be gutted.
Not sure what to do. I can't understand why she isn't invited. I know they don't like her husband, but he isn't going to be there!! I half feel like backing out of the meal

I would be tempted to try to arrange to meet with the travelling friend and the nice friend as per your original arrangement. Explain that days are better for you, for whatever reason and make it before the evening one, so there's less risk of it coming up in conversation....
and go to cafe rouge for lunch! yum, indeed!
And if travelling friend can't make a daytime date, maybe meet your other friend anyway as she might need it more.... IMHOI'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -

Well, travelling friend has a chock full diary all week and it was going to be up to her when the 3 of us met for coffee. We were going to see my ex-colleague at her house so it was easier with her having the baby.
Friend with baby I can see - she came to the park recently to see me when I was out with my doggy.
I've already agreed to Thursday night out. I just feel it is mean that they haven't invited her and I'm now in the situation where I have to lie
