Hi twinkle I notice u manged to get ur DH to help sort our ur financial situation. I'm having the same trouble with my oh who is more interested spending money than saving it!!!
Any tips would be appreciated. Keep up with the job hunt it's worth it to find a job you enjoy it makes life so much better.Mortgage @ 01.06.10 £165,999Mortgage @ 31.10.13 £14,6640 -
Gallygirl which one do you mean? I'm looking at Santander for the new money as they don't except transfers in for their good deal. Is it M&S where they give a higher rate for amounts over 9k?
I only have one year of ISA money to transfer in, has anyone seen a good deal for that. I don't want to be tied to a fixed 1 year or 2 year deal as I think rates will rise towards the end of the year.0 -
Hmmm...getting OH into money saving was using spreadsheet after spreadsheet to show him what we are actually saving by paying things off early....the mortgage had the biggest impact on him.
No jobs to apply for this week, which is most annoying. I can't really be bothered though if I'm honest. Ah well.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

Cheers ears, but I can't get a job there. Don't ask. Besides, we can't rent out our home. It's not suitable (we've still not sorted out hole in kitchen ceiling, decorated or put doors on!!! Not to mention finding the time to pack up all our rubbish.
So we've decided I'll stay up here until we are sure he's got a job, because any job he does get might not even bee down there anyway! Sounds confusing but it makes sense to me....ish.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

Is THIS the one? That's great - didn't come up on any of the Best Buys at the weekend. Seems like a no brainer - I'll be joining you :T.
Halifax have THIS one - 2.6% for transfers in, so could open the Santander one for new money & transfer in your old one to Halifax. Unless you can find a better rate than that - after all you found the Santander one!
Lets not get too carried away though - an extra 1% on last years and this years ISAs is still less than £100 - yes, worth having but not exactly life changingA positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Do you guys not look at Kazza's thread over on the ISA board? It takes all the effort out of finding an ISA. It's awesome.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

Right, I've updated my cash flow. AND I need a "you've been a VERY naughty girl" slap. Although to be honest I think it's DH that's actually spent all the money. We have WAY overspent on the food front this month and it's not even over yet.
I'm really struggling at work atm as well. Don't think there's anything in it...just need the holidays I think. But then I think I'm stressing myself out because I know I have SOOOOO much work to do during the holidays rather than just resting! Stupid masters...why am I doing it again?
May spring bank I'm going to leave laptop at school and have an actual holiday if it kills me!!!
Decided to hold off on the ISA front for now. I need to channel my funds elsewhere, so will wait a while I think....although if I do end up getting 2nd in Dept job, I'm defo going to increase OP's in the mortgage.
I don't think I'll get a job elsewhere now...nothing is being advertised near me whatsoever. I'm ok with it though, I don't really want to leave and start from scratch again anyhoo. In fact I just want to quit and become a stay at home mum!!! But that's not going to be happening.
A girl can dream though.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

Hey, GG.
I found the Santander one through Martin - best ISA in the savings link at the top! Can't take credit for Martin's hard work:).
I have decided to go with Santander for both the new money and the transfer in. Both are differen accounts, I think the transfer in is 2.25%, one of the Mum's at school work for Santander so she's helping to sort me out as it's so difficult to get there!
The best thing about the Flexible ISA is that it is BOE linked so is an ISA tracker! Mind you I'd prefer the BOE rate to stay low due to my tracker mortgage.
Twinklie, it might be worth opening the Santander one with a £1 and adding to in the year if you get any more money, purely because it's a tracker. It's all a gamble though, don't you think?0 -
You're right CC, it is all a bit of a gamble and playing the odds etc. I'm stuck on a fixed rate mortgage at 5.35%....gutted! Still, fixed rate is nearly over and hopefully rates will stay low for a bit. We shall see though.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25
