when things collapse, it's usually too much water. Try 20ml less next time. For your bread, what flour are you using?
At the mo I am using Asda, but going to try Sainsburys/Lidl next!

Had my first disaster in the Panny yesterday. My first time using Morrisons bread flour. The loaf looks like it's feebly risen then sunk disastrously. It looks terrible. Not even bothered to slice it, it weighs a ton so I know it won't be nice. It won't be going to waste though, I'm going to turn it into a choc and banana bread and butter pud this afternoon in readiness for the arrival of visitors later!! Will try another loaf with the flour then return it all to Morrisons if I have another disaster like this.0

Help I pressed the button after adding the fruit to my spicy fruit loaf & it reset. This was my first attempt at adding fruit & I thought as it was lit up you pressed it after adding stuff, doh!! I've had to set it for the whole 5 hour cycle again, will it still turn out OK does anyone know0

Can anyone advise if you get a hole in the loaf when it's baked, from the paddle? How much of the loaf would be affected?0

Yes, you do get a hole in the bottom of the loaf. It doesn't bother me, it's just a little bit torn at the bottom of a couple of slices, but you can take the dough out and cook it in the tin with the paddle removed, or a few people just use the breadmaker for the dough and then bake in their own oven.
I'm not too sure at what stage you remove the dough, but I'm sure it's somewhere in this thread, if you've got the time to read right through. Hope somebody comes along with more specific informationOfficial DFW Nerd Club - Member # 593 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts!0 -

I had this happen last weekend when my son unplugged the machine to iron his jeans! The loaf rose beautifully - higher than usual in fact but, at some stage in the baking it collapsed in on itself! I'd be inclined to take it out, let it rise then put it back in on bake only for about 55 mins.Preemie hats 9 :j0 -

One of my most successful loaves in the early days of the panny, was when I had a powercut while I was out, don't know how long it lasted, but it must have been fairly early in the programme. I often wish I could recreate that error because the loaf really did rise beautifully.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member # 593 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts!0 -
Oh dear lets just say my fruity loaf was no oil painting (sunk in the middle & looking like a brick) but tastes delicious0

i think the hole in the bottom varies depending on machine, my parents had a machine that left such a huge hole that several slices in the middle were basically halved, with my panny it hardly makes a difference, still use all the slices as whole ones. just with a slightly torn line in a small part of the bottom half when you get to the middle.
just popped another loaf out, smells gorgeous, my husband has asked that when the bread is served warm it needs a medium crust, once cold and sliced it has to have the light. not exactly possible to achieve on one loaf.:rotfl:0 -
