Forgot to ask, is parchment paper different from greaseproof paper? I have always used a big roll of greaseproof paper I bought in Sainsburys a few years ago, and it is still going strong. Can I use it or do I buy a different one? I have always used this one to line my cake tins when baking cakes and it is great. Thanks in advance, I appreciate the help.

I believe they are the same as my book says to line the pan with parchment or greaseproof paper.

I have just taken another loaf from the b/maker and it is cooling:) I am going to make the lovely recipe with the raspberries(tea bread) so I am busy trying new recipes out. Thank you everyone who has given these wonderful tips to us.
Do a little kindness every day.;)

Here we go ladies, the fruit berry cake mix ingredients and instructions.

    1. Line the pan with parchment paper.
    2. Chop fruit ready and set aside, likewise with the nuts.
    3. Cream the butter and sugar in a mixing bowl until pale and fluffy
    4. Gradually beat in the eggs beating well after each addition to combine quickly without curdling.
    5. Mix in the flour and the ground nuts.
    6. Fold in the fruit.
    7. Set machine to bake for 50 minutes

Please excuse my ignornace as I've never used my Panny for cake making. How do I set it to bake for 50 minutes? Need to know quite soon as I'm off to buy frozen fruits this morning!!
    Thanks.

select the BAKE option and I think it automatically defaults to 30 minutes. You then keep pressing the timer button until you get to the number of minutes you want :D After the baking has finished, always test the cake first - I use a wooden skewer (the type you make kebabs with) and check that the cake is cooked. If it's still a bit runny, then set to bake for another 5 minutes.

Has anyone made the pesto, onion and garlic bread in the recipe book? it was my first venture from a normal loaf and while it tastes fine, it was a bit sunken in the middle.

I put in a whole sachet of yeast (allison's) instead of the 3/4 tsp, could that be the cause?

Also, if anyone uses Lidl bread flour, they've changed the supplier now. It doesn't seem like the same :(
  • I was a bit sceptical at the new supplier of flour at Lidl but I have tried it and it seems no different to me. I think it could just be a labelling thing as the best before date is still smudged in exactly the same way.
Lets get this straight. Say my house is worth £100K, it drops £20K and I complain but I should not complain when I actually pay £200K via a mortgage:rolleyes:

a whole sachet of yeast? each sachet contains about 2/3 teaspoons. Your loaf has obviously oven risen and sunk :(

Thanks JennyW, I've bought frozen forest fruits from Morrisons this morning, so will hopefully make the cake this afternoon - Andy Murray allowing!!

Quick Sandwich loaf question- are these supposed to come out as quite small dumpy loaves? If not, then I guess my yeast is no good any longer (not sure how long its meant to last LOL its the dried Dove yeast)

    Thanks,

Was going to try and make the cherry and marzipan cake today but just didn't get round to it, has anyone else made this?
