    i never wash mine out either, maybe im a lazy dirty moo :o but i cant see the point of making work for myself when the pan isnt dirty as such as it is used daily and the only thing thats left behind after the bread is tipped out is maybe a light dusting of cooked bread flour. why mess around with it when it works perfectly well without being washed...my excuse is that im seasoning it like my wok :D
    proper prior planning prevents !!!!!! poor performance! :p

    I never used to wash out the bread pan, I just wiped it clean but after a while, when I went to take a loaf out of the breadmaker it was flat and the underside of it was black/green where the paddle had been. I thought I would cut this bit out of the bread and use the rest. When I cut into the loaf the inside was mouldy looking so I binned it and decided that the paddle needed taking out and the breadpan thoroughly cleaning. It was disgusting, all mouldy and dirty. I was horrified at how the breadcrumbs were really mouldy just inside the paddle. It now gets a thorough wash each time.
  • I don't wash the breadpan as such, but I do give it and the kneading blade a good soak even in cold water. Then I just use a pan scourer round the shaft and around the hole in the paddle. Job done, wipe with a tea towel and put the blade loose into the pan, stick it back in the machine to air and that's it til next day.

    When we had pizza, No1 offspring & I made 2 bases & put grated cheese around the edge to make a padded 'hem'. It was a bit fiddly to fold the 'pastry' over the cheese, but well worth the effort:p

    I do this - mainly bacause I get quite a bit of bread stuck to the blade when I tip the loaf out. Is there a way of avoiding/reducing this? Leaves quite a big hole in the loaf! This is a relatively recent problem, I've been making bread in this machine daily for a couple of years, and this has been happening for a few weeks:confused: Can't think of anything I've changed.........

  • Wow I've spent ages reading this thread, I've just ordered my Panny from JL so will be breadmaking by the weekend :j I'd just like some pizza help though. Can anyone tell me what the best cheese is to use to stuff the edges. I have visions of it all seeping out the sides & turning into a burnt mess:eek: Thanks in advance

    oh god, yes definitely clean mine after each use, cant leave all that bread around the spindle :eek:

    I pour water in the pan to loosen up the spindle then wipe out with kitchen roll. I never submerge it in the water though. Just clean out the inside and wipe dry the spindle.

    Mods - could we have a "I am in love with my Panasonic Breadmaker" - part 2?

    Good morning everyone:) I could not wait to post today as I am so chuffed with my new Panasonic b maker:) I made two lovely loaves yesterday, and the family love the bread. I am so glad I read all the praises about the Panasonic, so went out and got mine in Argos on Sat. Our very sharp knife did not cut it the way we had hoped, so I had ordered an electric knife in Argos online and my husband is off to buy it. It costs £8.99, and I will def be baking every day, as there are four of us at home now, and we use a lot of bread. I am so very pleased with my b.maker:) A big thank you to all who recommended this one.:)

  • I tried everything to cut straight and almost put the bread machine in a cupboard after breaking my toastie machine (broke handle trying to close against 2 * 2" thick slices).
    I bought a meat and bread slicer for £40 from lidl and I can honestly say no going back! I get a couple of extra slices and have not broken my new toastie machine.
    Lets get this straight. Say my house is worth £100K, it drops £20K and I complain but I should not complain when I actually pay £200K via a mortgage:rolleyes:
