You can use any size with the sandwich setting. I use the quantities for a medium loaf but my machine is about 6 years old and the recipies have changed since to cut down on sugar and salt and fat.
My fool proof recipie (from the recipie book) for me is:
4g of fresh yeast
425g flour (lidl is best for consitancy)
4g salt
one table spoon sugar
15g of butter - (i prefer ground nut oil)
310ml of water
1.5 table spoons of milk if it's not on the timer.Lets get this straight. Say my house is worth £100K, it drops £20K and I complain but I should not complain when I actually pay £200K via a mortgage:rolleyes:0 -
thanks, I will note that recipe down, mine should be ready soon so will let you know how its turned out
edit - Its a bit bigger but not very muchso it must be the flour! I am off to try Andy's recipe for the base of a fruit bread so fingers crossed!

this is my standard L size (wholemeal). I haven't attempted an XL yet, doubt it will fit in my toaster :rotfl:0 -
I agree re the sandwich setting. Even the wholemeal loaf turns out wonderfully big and moist and lasts for days without drying.
I made a white malt loaf last night as per the recipe and it is cool now having been placed upside down on a rck so the top is a little bit squashed. It is a good 6" tall and my dh keeps eyeing it up
how do you buy malt? I only know that it comes in ovalineWhat does a malt loaf taste like?

Oh I am so jealous of the gorgeous loaves, I used Andy's recipe to make a fruit bread and it got alot bigger then the top collapsed so I either had too much yeast/water or poor flour

malt extract. I bought from goodness direct but you can get it in lots of places eg wholefood shops. No fat in it and by golly it is lovely, sweet and moist with the sultanas. It is in the panny book. Def one I will make again esp when I have visitors as it is a very economical `tea type` loaf0

when things collapse, it's usually too much water. Try 20ml less next time. For your bread, what flour are you using?0 -
