I'm fed up with mine. Where did i go wrong today? I foolowed a recipe that nsomeone else had posted, I read it last week, so it was 500g pantry maid bread mix + 320ml lukewarm water. I did this on Sunday, and it was the first really good loaf I've had from the machine since getting it in Dec. I did the same recipe this morning...... 4hrs later, I have a complete soggy mess, with a lump of flour on top. I did put the flour in before the water, but I think the water maybe ran down the sides of the flour mountain. What else can it be? I hate the bleedin' thing. I have to wait 4hrs, just to find out it's a disaster.
Edit: Ignore this, I just found the kneading blade on the dish drainer. DoooohOfficial DFW Nerd Club - Member # 593 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts!0 -

I have just discovered how to find out how long it is until the raisin beep goes off on the SD 254, apologies if this has been posted before. If you press the Timer button after you've pressed Start then the time until the additional ingredients need to be added is displayed. I wish I'd found this before as I keep missing the raisin beep
This is one of the best tips i've picked up in a long time!
I was getting fed up of wondering whether I'd missed the beep or not, then getting worried and shoving the seeds in anyway!
I tried it today and it worked a treat. Thank you so much Jo_anne :T0 -
I got my Panny at Christmas too and love it, though I was getting a tad fed up with the constant crumbs and uneven slices, not to mention trying to keep the bread fresh. So I bought one of these, from this place

Its been great, let the bread cool down completely though before you put it in, it keeps the bread fresh for days, I cut the whole loaf in one go and then keep slices in the keeper, its a really good purchase and I figured in the long run it would be cheaper than buying bread bags:cool:Trying to be frugal and sensible with my pennies.0 -
I don't believe it!!!! I thought, okay, I'll try again, so I put another loaf on at 4.45, and here I am at 8.45 still with no bread for tomorrows lunches. The paddle was definitely in the machine, in fact it's still lodged in the lump of stuff, that is well baked on the outside, yet soggy in the middle, and totally unrisen. What am I doing wrong????
I've tried the basic recipe that came with the machine, then I tried it with fresh bought flour and yeast, fair enough it was usable, but not particularly nice. I tried the Hovis breadmixes twice, not great. I tried the recipe from my old machine, waste of time. Then on Sunday I tried the recipe from here, using Aldi's bread mixes, I got one lovely loaf, tried again today, fair enough the first one was a failure due to human error, but what went wrong with this second one. I even turned the radiator on in the kitchen, because I thought maybe the room temp was too cold. I'm only glad I managed to get plenty of rtc bread from Asda bakery last week so at least the freezer is well stocked with tigger paws and other "nice breads"Official DFW Nerd Club - Member # 593 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts!0 -
Is it possible that my machine is faulty???? The flour on the bottom of the lump, looks like it hasn't all been stirred in properly. What would cause this???????Official DFW Nerd Club - Member # 593 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts!0

My pleasureI must have read the instruction booklet a dozen times before I spotted it, but it is in there. I think Panasonic could have made it a little more obvious!

When you put the pan into the machine with the ingredients in is it sitting properly?
It should drop down a bit and you twist it in.Planning on starting the GC again soon0 -

You could try running it empty, with no ingredients, on a dough programme, and watch the blade to check it turns properly in use. It might tell you if its mixing properly.0 -
The pizza bases I can make with my SD253, are they big enough for 2 adults with healthy apetites? or should I do one each? MTIA{Signature removed by Forum Team}0
