Oooh, I feel awful. My DiL's parents just invited me for lunch tomorrow as it's mothering sunday and I've said no, thanks. Is that really bad of me?
As tomorrow is the day us Mothers are acknowledged, I want to spend it in my own home (my Mum passed on 20 odd years ago) having a schleppy Me time day.
Is this really wrong and selfish of me?I am the leading lady in the movie of my life

I dont think its wrong or selfish. Its your day so you should be able to do what you want to. Were they ok about you saying no?0
-
I think I'd have said no if I didn't want to go, people spend too much time IMO keeping other people happy.
Oh and I have done very little since I last posted :rotfl: have done some more reading of study books which will hopefully help me trying to answer ? once I get the little guys to bed. Spent time with them reading, playing a daft game which ended up with DS2 going splat on the floor and tears :rotfl: was fun while it lasted.
 Ds1 just said time for bed and has gone, no nagging required, weird :rotfl:I best go and sort them out then, ttfnOne day I might be more organised...........

Evening all,
Just having a quick catch up while all is quite, kids in Pj's just having supper and then bed, we are both fed and kitchen has been cleaned down, just waiting on the DW to finish so I can empty and reload again.
Tonight I need to -
prep for sunday school tomorrow
put away dry washing and hang up next load on airer
reload WM
small pile of ironing
Then I am going to collapse on the sofa and do a Killer Sudoku for the puzzler competition thread, post the answer on MSE and then head for bed for an early night, I stayed up until 1 last night watching some rubbish film and i have paid for it today.
Lil_me you had listed that you needed to wipe down your sofa I have some very sticky finger marks on mine do you just use warm water and a microfibre cloth?
Also any slow cooker experts out there, I am planning to do the beef brisket & veg in mine tomorrow - how do i do it. I havent been adventureous enough to risk a joint before now but reckon that as it mothers day if it all goes in the pot first thing then its less more me to do during the day.0 -
Boddy and Lil-me Thank you :T. I feel better now. I think they were OK though they sort of quizzed my DS and then came back with another offer which I have agreed to go to - lunch at theirs on Good Friday.
I think I'm just getting to be a grumpy old woman who prefers the comfort of her own home to going out and socialising.
Maybe I should find a cave that has wireless internet connections and become an internet enabled hermit!I am the leading lady in the movie of my life

Jjef mines leather, I usually use a damp cloth then the proper cleaner for when I do it properly. Cloth one to be honest I usually used the same, trying not to wet it too much or it leaves a damp patch.
I always cook the veg seperate to the brisket as I found it makes the veg go soggy. I pop bay leaves and a pint of stock in the bottom then cook for however long it needs. There is a brisket/SC thread http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=279344
I'm not old, well not quite, or grumpy (ok well sometimes) but in general I do prefer to be at home, I have what I need here most of the time, most of my friends get on my nerves when drunk etc, pub meals I always think 'I could have made 4+ meals for what I am paying for one which would have tasted nicer' ok maybe I am getting old and boring :rotfl:tight as a kippers wotsit to go with itOne day I might be more organised...........

what a long day - i am shattered now. I'll hopefully have an energy surge once i have eaten, as we ate early lunch at 12:30, and only recently got back from my parents. At least we don't have to go out now tomorrow, and we can hopefully see some progress.
soappie i would probably opt for a day at home if given the choice. I often go for the option that pleases someone else though. I admire you for being honest and doing what suits you.- [strike]strip and wash our bedding[/strike], remake bed
- [strike]food shop[/strike]
- hoover run around upstairs done, still need to do downstairs
- plan lessons for monday - y8 and y9
- mark remaining y9 test papers
- finish doing a test grid for y7
- try and mark some coursework - about 50 more pieces to go before 20th March
- clear the ironing pile - half done in about 45 minutes. Need desperately to do some more tomorrow. Won't do now tonight.
- [strike]buy m day card and flowers[/strike], [STRIKE]and deliver them[/STRIKE]
- relist amazon listings, they will be sold eventually
- fill in sat marking contract - as the exam is the same week baby is due i think i will skip it this year.
- sort wardrobes out in room we want to decorate, so DH can NEED TO DO THIS TONIGHT  Will do as quickly as possible after dinner.
- break up wardrobes, and take to tip
- strip wallpaper in that room
- [strike]buy paint for the room[/strike] also got new light switches/covers, border, wallpaper paste, 2 new light shades, lightshade for our new room
- paid DH's credit card bill - yikes - New furniture on there
- washed Ds's bedding again after another leaky nappy
- emptied the airers - clothes just folded and put away, as lets face it, the ironing pile is big enough
- got cash out
- dealt with post - sent off NUT thing
- got Ds's feet measured and bought new trainers
- DH got himself measured for a suit for being best man at his friends wedding next month.
- let DS play on the park for 10 minutes, but it was far too cold
- booked a hotel room at said wedding, as we had a sudden thought it might be nice to have one last full night out BB (before baby) and if i am feeling tired, or DS needs a nap, we can go and have a lie down and leave DH doing best man duties.
Not MS, but definitely sanity saving.

AnW's mum - huge big hugs, will be thinking of you. If you feel shaky, then if you close your eyes and think of us, we'll be right there with you. Promise.
pigpen - hope you feel better very soon.
(((hugs))) to all in need of one!!
dustykitten - I have a clay soil. It's usually a fertile soil, and can hold water better than a sandy one, so probably good for vegetables once improved. I add loads of compost or manure, and also grit or pea shingle at home on the worst bits. I also recommend mulching the surface so that it doesn't dry up and crack. Adding lots of organic matter will raise the surface a bit, so that will also help the drainage. Growing stuff in it also helps break it up. I have read that liming the soil will help although you may not want to do that if your soil is naturally acid, and it shouldn't be done straight after manuring. (Chemical reaction between the two). You can add something called gypsum, but I've not done it myself. I have found digging at the right time, and not walking on it when wet, adding lots of manure, and mulching has been effective enough.
No flying today, although I did buy a lot of lovely new wooden hangers for the new wardrobe! This afternoon I went over to visit my mum,who was quite cheerful and bright, which was lovely. And brilliant news - after my sister finally lost patience with the ongoing argument between the NHS and Social services about who funds the care, and made a complaint, it has been agreed that mum can be moved to the care home on Monday! It sounds quite nice - and will be much easier for my dad to visit. Who pays is still in dispute, but at least she'll be there. Almost six months since she went into hospital.
I have had an email from sexymouse, who is very well, but incredibly busy, and sends her love.
Happy birthday for yesterday to kazmeister!:bdaycake:
