Oooohhhhhhhhhh 400 posts! Please don't tell me I'm getting obsessed!
  • Hi dusty

I have the same feeling about the book fair that comes to my DD's school - it's the same kind of set-up, and they also drum it into the children to come to the fair after school - but also take them to look round it in a class session so they can choose what they want when their parents turn up

I found that as she went further up the school, she was less interested as the target readership is younger, and in the last two years of primary school she didn't even want to go. Hopefully it's the same organisation and you will find the interest dwindles.

The senior school Christmas Fair was like that too. It was full of things like Usborne books and Chocoholics where the school gets commission from anything sold. Everything was VERY expensive, and there was not a single thing that the kids could buy with their pocket money - not even a sweetie tombola - ridiculous.

Anyway, hmmm, must plug away at work.

Jeez the piano tuner is still up on the high notes and he started somewhere up there...maybe he is worth the money.

We have that three times a year dusty and it's always the same few mums who buy as they feel guilty. I taught mine the value of money and took them to the charity book shop with the same amount of money - they got half a dozen books each! Emotional blackmail - grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Top idea girl wonder - I shall take him to the charity shop at the weekend!

Notes finished so on to tea and getting the washing in.

I remember those book fairs when mine were at school. They used to take them round during school time and they'd come out after school with forms already filled in and drag you in there to buy them. I used to screw up the form and look for the cheapest book. Real blackmail, you felt so bad when you didn't buy the long list of books they'd chosen.

You didn't get discount books really back then, before the days of Amazon etc. I think, but we used to go to the library every week so they always had plenty to read.

School run done and sat here with the sun streaming through the window showing up every speck of dog grot on the window!!! She likes to sit on the window sill and watch whats going on outside when she's on her own. Hadnt realised window was sooooo bad.

Book fairs at schools are blackmail and usually I dont have to worry as I dont do the school run.

When I had my piano tuned it took the guy well nearly 2 hours but unfortunately he couldnt tune it to concert pitch as he found a crack in the frame so mine sounds a bit flat, but he did tell that me that as a pice of furniture it was worth about £250 as its victorian and still had the brass candelabra on it. I only paid £50 so thought it was still a good deal.

Reminds me I must ring him and see if he still does lessons as DD's last teacher gave up on her as she wouldnt practise (she hasnt played for 2 years) and still isnt 9 yet so can hold out some hope of her playing again.

Just got to start preparing dinner now for later on
Mortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!

We make the dough from the recipe in the BM recipe book then just add anything we want from the fridge....I love bolonaise on mine instead of the usual tomato base.

Ok, piano tuner is still banging the same note again, and again, and again, and again, and I have a client at 5. Do you think a plonking piano is conducive to relaxation? Lol.

Dusty - it took me 7 reflexologists to find one I was happy with! I'm a bit fussy though! xx
