  • Ah, Its good about getting back together with BF. That's thing about alcohol you drink when your sad, you drink when your happy (blooming emotions). Will you feel better if you do the whole 30 day thing? Maybe difficult to sit with everyone else in your social circle, that's what I find (and hubby:mad:). Maybe it's about damage limitation, like not drinking on your own, and not always drinking with BF, (cut it down graduly). Like last night I bought 2 bottles of wine quite big bottle but did share it with hubby, and I only opened 1. Also noticed if I don't drink till later he won't. I have come to the conclusion for some people maybe like crash dieting, total withdrawl will make you crave more. Another thing I thought about was having another option into drink non alcoholic, cold with ice. Good luck x

  • Thankyou cornishpixie. I did the drinking on my own, however!! I don't tend to drink when I go out as I would find it difficult to control the amount I drink. Would like to do the 30 day thing so that I can feel I'm in control of the alcohol and not the other way round. Have really enjoyed not drinking...................tons of benefits.................my recent drinking was my way of not haven't to think about things.................a timeout for me, I guess. Pity you can't attach a flush handle to your brain and flush it all away !! The postman has brought me a package from Amazon which contains Allen Carr's 'Easy way to control alcohol' book ...............looking forward to reading it. Thanks for posting cornishpixie..................some interesting things for me to consider. Have a nice weekend. xx ps did you do the singalongathon ?!!

    Morning!!

Well I've managed a week without getting hammered!! Just 1 glass of wine, half of cider and a G&T, this is a huge step for me, even manged to put the recycling bin out without any alcohol cans or bottles :D The recycling people must have been in shock or thought I was on my hols :rotfl: Anyway even though i haven't abstained completly feel Im on the right track (so much better than at least a bottle of wine a night) And my purse is heavier too!!

Jo & Molly Im joining you on this unhangovered Saturday morning and it feels GREAT :T

Liegh, YM & Nearly There keep strong you'll get there in the end :D (can't remember the times I've tried over the years)

Nearly There let me know how you get on with the book, I have it and read it about 18 months ago but wasn't quite ready for his theories!! Maybe I should dig it out again?

Hope everyone else is doing O.K have a great Saturday

Morning all! Well was an okish week for me! Went to London & didnt drink but then treated myself to 2 cans G&T & a bottle of red on the way back....consumed both over 2 nights & just felt cack! Am definately a lightweight now!! Back to drinking nowt for a bit! The more I drink, even occasionally, the more I reaisehow naff it makes me feel. Had a migraine due to the gin yesterday so a pretty miserable day off for me...!
Hugs shopaholic....keep going leigh. I do think you could benefit from some professional help with giving up. Look how well BHB is doing with support....I can see both sides of the issues with the phone as he relies on it for his work so not unreasonable of him to want to use his phone!! What were you selling?!! Sounds a bit suss?!! Worth a try to see GP or drungs/alch project & would help you learn to deal with life without just going on a bender...?
Well done BHB!! Keep up the good work & great that you are being helped by the acupuncture etc...fabby!!

Morning all, woohoo what a great day! Even though I gotta visit the out-laws later :(....but for the time being, the sun is shining (sorta..), and I'm 'feeling good...hu'

Thanks NT, for the sing-song, great words, just how I feel, I shall now have that as my getting up anthem! I didn't know MB did vid's like that, 007-esk!

NT, glad to hear you've sorted your BF problems, hope all goes well and you can get back to your uninterupted long evenings again, if that's what you want :)

CornishPixie, well done for your fantastic self control! Unfortunately for me, it's all or nothing :undecided

SM, you made me laugh about your recycling men :rotfl: well done for not over doing it this week :)

ISOM, after about 3 or 4 days your tolerance to alcohol goes right down so no wonder it's affected you! It's amazing how naff drinking does make you feel doesn't it, I don't even know what the attraction of it is  Wish I could find out!

Basil, well done for your excellent control! Enjoy your evening out tonight!

Well, I'm doing okay. It was really difficult in places last night and if OH did go out I was a bit concerned about whether I would've managed it or not but 'luckily' he was in-situ, and in control of the remote :( so no chance of me going out and getting any drink.

I do feel I've passed a small milestone though today, this is a bit TMI so apologies if you're eating your breakfast/lunch/dinner, but as I was a daily drinker, when I stop drinking my digestive system goes t!ts up, this has happened everytime I've tried to stop. On day 2 I get the most incrediblely painful trapped wind and amazingly bloated. Normally on day 3 I feel constipated as well this can go on for days. I then am afraid to eat and have before now been doubled up with pain. And so because of this, depending on my resolve, I normally start drinking either on day 2 or 3 cos I can't stand it anymore. This time I bought a whole array of stuff to take, I've eaten fruit or vegetables for every meal, drunk Fybogel twice a day and eaten about 20 packets of polos. I was in terrific pain on Tues and Weds evenings and my abdomen has not recovered completely yet but I didn't give in and I feel proud of myself. I wouldn't normally talk about stuff like this, but I know it happens to daily drinkers and so I thought I'd mention the light at the end of the tunnel!

So today is a beautiful un-hung-overed day. I slept really well and wasn't disturbed by vivid dreams for the 1st night in the last 5 so that's a bonus. As I said, gotta go to the out-laws, I can't stand them, I also hate driving there as I always get lost and get very stressed as they live miles away so I am going to pre-empt any possible stress and buy lots of different types of drink I could have when I get back like choc milkshake, tins of fizzy, sachets of flavoured coffee, stuff like that, oh and also cream cakes and more choklit. I shall jump out the car, run into the house and stuff my face full of cream cake and wash it down with a bottle of choklit Frijj milkshake then I won't be able to face a can of beer :D

I'm trying to be very casual about this quit so don't want to put it in my sig yet, but I've saved £20 so far not buying alcohol :j (I've probably spent around £30 on sweet substitutes though.....)

Have a wonderful day everyone :D
