Back to say hello after a couple of weeks which have mostly been boozy.
I have managed about 10 AFDs this month in total, which might not sound many but is more than I have had for several years.
Feeling sluggish and a bit hungover today, and I am being more aware of all the effects of it when I give myself a break from drinking. I am coming to the conclusion I can see the effect of booze on my skin as I get spots back within a day or so.
I drank much less than last Christmas, and I have had very few wake up at 4am nights from drinking too much recently, whereas last year it happened a lot. Still feeling rather guilty though, better than last year still isn't great!
Hope everyone on here is doing well.0 -
Thanks Ed-Zep for your lovely post, its so good to know that people have achieved an alcohol free life and also Pip26 good thoughts, words and wishes go such a long way to making people feel that they are not alone. And boy alcohol can sure make you feel very isolated.
Anyway, I've had a bit of a wake up call this morning. OH gave me a huge dressing down about the fact the I keep saying I won't drink then give in and end up passed out on the sofa and basiclly the message that this sends to out two children. He wasn't too impressed either at me drinking a gift that had been bought for him
So he's gone away to work for a couple of days and I need to take in how upset/hurt he is and try to use it to help me kick this bloody addiction, alongside me knowing I don't want to be like this anymore.
Hope everyone else is ok and begining to think about implementing AFJ
Take care

Some lovely words of encouragement over the past few days and it's lovely to see that there are lurkers out there that are being touched by the supportiveness on here and finally decide to come out of 'lurkdom'.
Things on the drinking front are not great for me although it's coming to an end. Dec 31st is the last day and I'm geared up for a AFJ, it's ironic cos everyday I want Jan 1st to hurry up but then it gets to the beer bell time of day and it's scares the bejazuz outta me!
Good luck to everyone for AFJ and well done and congratulations to everyone that has abstained or notched up a few drink free days in 2008. Here's to a AFJ and hopefully an AFF, AFM, AFA etc etc :rotfl:DFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -

I had a similar experience with my OH earlier in the year and ended up quitting for a few months. It was the embarrassement and realisation that everyone knows whats going on for me that made me decide to quit.
Good luck, we are all here if you need us

Thanks Jo, think I did need it. Its just so horrible when someone you love confronts you with the things you try hardest to hide.
But hopefully with the wonderful support and encouragment you all offer and OH will if I let him, this time I will be able to make some real changes.0 -
I'm a lurker thinking about joining. Can I play?0

Just did a really long post then lost it:mad:
Anyway I was just having a rant at myself for having a red wine and port hangover and boy does it hurt. Seemed such a good idea last night.
MariI bet your other half will be really proud of you when you have your AFJ. I know a few of my friends think I drink too much but they are all drinkers too so dont say anything.
Jo I know what you mean. I am strangely excited by January but then its easy to feel like that when I know I can have a drink today.
I have decided to set a goal of half the month to be AFJ. 15 days would be an incredible acheivement for me. In fact it must be at least 20 years since I have done that:eek:
Good luck to all the people trying to make their worlds better:o
Hi Greypilgrim. Please do join in everyone here is lovely29th Feb Quit Day :j0 -
Hi, everyone you seem like a lovely bunch. I could do with abit of support as I've decided I want to stop drinking for a while. I usually have a few glasses of wine every night, its habit really, I do enjoy wine but hate the morning after feeling. I can't seem to stop at 1 glass either which is a worry.
I also want to try and save the money I would of spent, and put it towards a little holiday.£100 - £10,0000
