  • Well done Eselt and Molly - you are both an inspiration to us all

    Hi Biscotte, 115k and Miss P :D

where is everyone else? Hope you are all not sozzled in a corner? I am getting so sick (literally sometimes) of drinking juice, have resorted to iced water now, less calories and doesn't make me as bloated, I expect it is good for me  Really wish could have a glass of wine :o

I am heading out to the sales today to look for some new bedding - dreading it really would rather stay home!!

Have a good day everyone xx
  • Oops don't know how I managed a dup post???
  • Morning all

Hope you all had good Boxing Days.

Shoppy I found I couldn't drink fizzy or rich drinks when I was pregnant (ie juices). I generally stuck to water or tea! I tried to drink orange juice as they say it helps you to absorb the iron in your food, but it just made me sick.

Eselt Your children are probably very proud of you and must enjoy having their Mum back. You are right...having a drink is not worth seeing the disappointment on their faces.

Well yesterday was a quiet day for me. Step-kids went home after lunch and then we took little one for a walk round the local lake. Home for hot chocolate and a nice tea. Then early bath and bed! Must admit I did have a glass of wine in the bath but it was only the one.

Another quiet day today, catching up on washing etc before we go away on Monday for the New Years (talking kids to a log cabin on a holiday park). Disappointed as I can't visit my parents before we go....Dad came down with the flu over christmas and Mum doesn't want me and others getting it. Never mind, will see them in new year.

    Have good days all

    Miss P
    xx

    Morning all :)

Have woke up un-hung-over'ed today although I must admit that it wasn't entirely planned :o

Went to visit the outlaws yesterday who live absolutely miles away and as I'm the only one that drives, find it very stressful as I invariably get lost and end up in tears at some point in the journey, either getting there or coming back. Yesterday though, I studied the map and actually got there on first attempt without getting lost :j :j :j it was still all very stressful though (all very fast roads and country lanes with no lights ), so on the way home I asked OH if he wanted to stop at the shop for anything (so I could get a beer, although he doesn't know that :o ) he said to see if the video shop was open, we pulled up to the shops but it was shut. I sat outside the shut shop for what seemed like an age trying to think of an excuse to go into the offy next door, but couldn't think of anything. So off we went home, I had nothing to drink except 2 bottles of Kaliber and here we are today feeling less fuzzy than usual.

It's stupid though cos I feel I've almost wasted a good opportunity to be AF cos me and OH are off out tonight to a friends where there is going to be a get together with the beer flowing, I don't want to go but after 2 or 3 years of excuses and not going I feel I have to go this time. If I stopped myself from drinking by driving it would mean another stressful driving situation that I don't want to be in, especially as we are going to another group of the outlaws today that live 50 miles away, so I've already got a 100 mile round trip to carry out this arvo, plus I don't know anyone so obviously you feel a drink will help (though it prob won't). Don't want to wake up feeling carp tomorrow either cos DS1 got an early birthday party to go to.

I hope you all had a good xmas and are gearing up for AFJ :D

    xx

    Debt-free and Proud!
    Morning everyone,

Shoppy I found cammomile tea great when I was expecting as I couldn't drink anything too sweet or fizzy

Well we've had a hectic xmas, but managed to take it fairly steady on the booze front, so although it wasn't AF it was much better than previous years. Even managed to be the designated driver on Boxing Day which has never happened before!!!

Anyway, off out with friends tonight, but they don't tent to overindulge so should be ok!! Counting down to AFJ not long to go, feel ready for the challenge...

Hope everyone has a great day

    Mari x
  • Hi everyone,
shoppy, congrats! i only just picked up on the news ( i am a bit slow obviously!)
that is fantastic. i am jealous, i am so broody. its funny because when i was pregnant i could not stand the thought of alc, the smell and everything made me ill, i really thought i wouldnt drink again afterwards (oops). i couldnt understand how some women manage to drink throughout, i couldnt stomach it, even if i had wanted to.

hope everyone is hunky dory, had a nice xmas, havnt quite been fully on the wagon, but boy its a hell of a lot less than previous. had some champayne on xmas day at my parents then a glass of read with boxing day dinner yesterday, feeling very unfuzzy today so i am pleased. got to go to another gathering now, am praying there is no turkey!

    lots of love xx
    :D

Hi all- good to see everyone has woke up safe and sound this morning- well done- some serious cutters down and a few stoppers- brill. Good luck with the driving Jo, I find the roads really weird at this time of year, for some reason everyone seems to drive differently, or is it just that everyone has a hangover and can't concentrate properly?- scary thought.

Well, we've just got new year to go then its the big January AF push- getting quite excited about going into my 2nd AF year- where did all the time go??

    Hi all,

Just wanted to pop in and say. well done to everyone, fantastic :T :T :A :T :T

I am over the moon myself because I did have an AF xmas day and only 2 drinks on Boxing Day, never heard of before, but boy does it feel good.

I was on Diet Coke all Christmas Day and my OH kept sniffing the glass cos he couldn't believe I was so bubbly on just that with everyone else around me drinking and do you know what guys, it didn't bother me that others were drinking, in fact being the hostess I poured most of the drinks and no pangs.

They were a great couple of days and I can remember them clearly and as somebody said on here, I wasn't struggling in the kitchen and burning myself as I have done on many occasions in the past.

    Great, just great. THANK YOU

  • Well done Nessa!!

I think to stay AF on Christmas day is a fantastic achievement. Not one I managed this year unfortunately (i blame the MIL) but I'm hoping next year will be different.

I cut down a lot this year and am quite proud with myself. You're right - it feels good!

    Roll on next christmas!

Well done Nessa- you are right about being bubbly when you are not drinking, I think its the fact that alcohol depresses you and that lifts, and you just look so much better- not blotchy or tired- I think the vitality of being alcohol free shines through and you just have more energy- I love the fact I can put my makeup on in the morning and it doesn't all slide off in a sweaty drunken haze- there really is no downside really.

Where is everyone today? Bis, looked for your xmas thread, did you get it off the ground? Keep it up guys- Jo, hows it going? Polaroid, Molly, Miss Piggy, Shoppy, Winebox...oh god I'm bound to forget someone, SO EVERYONE thats made a contribution to this thread , thank you all so much and have a superb new year.
