OK so food mountain wasn't such a good idea after all- boy I feel fat and bloated. About half way through my veg mountain I thought I was going to give in until dad reminded us all of starving rwandan children so we all soldiered on until now we all feel very very ill. Happy days- I'm the only one left upright, mixture of sobriety and sheer willpower- god theres a whole rib of beef and half a turkey in the kitchen, tired but happy, first christmas in years I can remember, first one without a hangover or staggering around trying to make gravy, first one where the kids aren't wary as they can't predict me, in other words things are normal today...and I can't think of anywhere better to be than just normal...its such a relief to have got that monkey off my back at last.
  • Morning all, hope everyone had a fab Christmas Day?

I had a lovely sober one, told our parents and my sis our good news and toasted with quarter glass of bubbly topped up with orange juice which I sipped slowly:eek: rest of day was spent eating and drinking a variety of juices and water and I dropped my sister off home at nine o'clock - first time I have been sober on Christmas day ever I think!! (Christmas eve saw me drinking milk!!!!) OH got very drunk on half a bottle of Jim Beam on top of lots of beer and wine and fell asleep the minute everyone left!

Going to my Mum's today for a buffet lunch and I am driving - this is tooo weird for me:rotfl:

Hope everyone else is having a sober-ish time, speak to you all soon

Hi all- oh shoppy, you'll have a lovely baby this time next year, its great at that age as they only want to play with tinsel and wrapping paper, unlike my 14 yr old who is playing in the next room with an ipod phone thing which looks tiny but cost a fortune!!! Hope everyone is OK today- we're in the danger zone now- rubbish telly, boredom, holidays, old friends visiting, memories- hang on in there everyone, we're in for a bumpy ride but we can do it- and you know you want to!!!

  • Good morning all!

Glad to hear you all had good christmas days! Must admit, mine wasn't as AF as I would have liked. I didn't touch a drop till 3pm when my MIL arrived. She has an uncanny knack of winding me up and I headed straight for the bottle. Guess I now know what my triggers are. Funnily enough, I stopped drinking when she left and I ended my evening quite sober and drinking lemonade.

I had a lovely day though. We had my 88 year old granny down all day which my little boy LOVED.

Step-kids go after lunch today. Which is a relief :o . Nice bit of peace and quiet!

    Have good boxing days all

    Miss P

Happy christmas - hope you all had a great time and are all well and coping with the boozyness of christmas - I have missed our forum here.

No time to read all the posts but have worked out that shoppy, you may be expecting a new arrival? What superb news, congrats. I had a 'late' baby (well, a 7 year gap) and have so enjoyed having a little one again. Hope you are feeling good.

Will see you all in the new year, must go, phone bill will be massive (but work pays!;) )

Happy new year for next week

Well thats it then....Xmas over....Just sitting finishing off the bottle of Non-alcoholic wine a kind friend bought me for xmas.....wearing my Bismarck bracelet:D
Everyone who has visited over xmas just seems to accept the fact that I no longer drink.
I heard my DD tell someone that she doesnt think she will ever see me drink again.
I feel very proud of myself and overwhelmed that I have woken up unhungovered on Boxing Day....This time last year I would never have believed it of myself.
But hey Guys...this can be done..with the help and support of everyone on here.
Good luck to you all on your journeys...and especially to those of you looking forward to a AFJ.
    Take Care

Well done Molly:T:T:T You are an absolute inspiration- you must feel so proud, I've overheard my kids telling people 'mum doesn't drink anymore', and to think I thought I covered it up for so long. They're not daft the little ones, however clever we think we are! Just can't bear the thought of letting them down now, can't put them through it again- everytime I think about picking up a drink I think about there little worried faces and it stops me abruptly short. Wishing everyone a brilliant new year and lets crack on with this- just the will to stop means we are half way there at least- lets do it. Bloody stuff!!!!
  • Well done Eselt and Molly - you are both an inspiration to us all

    Hi Biscotte, 115k and Miss P :D

where is everyone else? Hope you are all not sozzled in a corner? I am getting so sick (literally sometimes) of drinking juice, have resorted to iced water now, less calories and doesn't make me as bloated, I expect it is good for me  Really wish could have a glass of wine :o
