they are really hit and miss those home tester things. last year me and some of the girls had a night out just before xmas, drank loads of wine got in about 1ish etc, anyway the next mornng my friend got in the car and did the school run. got pulled over just before the school gates and got breathlized and was told she was THREE times over the limit! in front of all the other parents and everything. mortifying. she said they were all stood there gossiping, and the sad thing was she never really drank taht much. i thought god, how many times could that have been me ...hmmmm
xx
ps WB hope you are ok now, roads are horrible arnt they, black ice scary xx:eek:

mornin all,
well done to all those having AFD's, have added no smoking to mine finally!! Will be about my 50th attempt to give up, but have joined the gym at work, and have even been going which has given me the final push to needed to give up the cigs again. It's only day 2 no smoking today, but the feeling of waking up without a sore throat, combined with a clear head and feeling like I've had a decent nites sleep is fantastic.
It's been a little while AF now and everyday I think back to how I used to be, unable to keep food down, constantly shaking, having panic attacks, looking like carp and being constantly tired, and I just don't want to go there again. I know there are going to be plenty of times when having a drink is going to feel like the easy option, and I'm sure there will be circumstances where i say to myself 'I need a drink to carry on' but this thread, my friends and the memories of my drunk self will, I feel, be enough to keep me on the straight and narrow. I know I don't post alot, but I log on 2 or 3 times a day, and all of your strength and wisdom makes life a lot easier.
Thank you all so so much

Hey well done Siannielaz - fabulous!
Polaroid I cringed at your post - how mortifying.
My brother lives in Bristol & he said the police have started doing random breathalyser checks in the morning rush hour. Aaand, MP & for those driving 4-5ish in the morning, OH has twice been stopped at this sort of time on his way to work, not breathalysed but they just got him to wind the window down for a chat presumably to see if he was on way home from a late night & smelling of booze.....I think back in those days you had to have done something wrong to be given a breath test but that doesn't seem to apply now, at least in Bristol! Aaand, someone in work was tested at 8am after hitting a deer. You CANNOT be too careful esp at this time of year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm a bit worried about the feedback on home testers, maybe I was being too cocky about my zero next morning readings so thanks.
edit - hopefully not an issue.......0 -
OMG I didn't realise that they could just randomly breathalyse you:eek: that is it for me, no way am I drinking then driving the next day any more!
I couldn't cope with the shame of it not to mention going to court and probaby losing my job!!!
Thank you all so much for your stories they have really hit home to me the risks I have been taking nearly every day for the last 10 years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now all I have to do is find a good enough reason to quit drinking Friday and Saturdays:o0 -
