Hi all- Molly...I'm afraid...very afraid....but if thats what it takes I'm up for it.
In that vein, lets look at some difficult questions. Do I want to be an alcoholic? No. Can I do anything about it? Yes. Do I want my kids in therapy in the future because of all the trauma I've caused? No. Do I want to die of alcoholism? No. Is it impossible to stop drinking? No. Is it hard? Yes.Can I do it? Yes.
My eldest son can't really look me in the eye, I let him down, even if I never drink again I don't know if he'll ever really trust me- I should have been his rock, his mum, and for a long time I failed hopelessly because of my own weakness and selfishness, I should have thought more about my little ones and I can't turn that clock back now- just some expression of deep regret is the best I can do, and thats not good enough is it?
Wishing everyone well today, come on guys, we can do this.0 -
Eselt..You really do have a way with words.
It is hard, very hard, but it can be done...so we will keep plodding onwards and one day our families may forgive us ........
But also as Bis says....we must forgive ourselves.

The counselling went well this morning, though still have 'the urge' too.
We talked about 'Antabuse' -(disulfiram) has anyone tried it as an aid to keeping off the stuff ?

Hi Found peoples unit disclosure excruciating earlier on- when I had to do a alcohol diary as part of my therapy a couple of years ago I thought I should be honest and as I was drinking at least 3 bottles of spirits a day, and whatever I could get my hands on, I was averaging around 100 units a day- and I wandered why I was so bloody ill.
I used to drink about 100 units a week at certain times in my life and I felt generally dreadful all the time.
I only managed 2 AFD's last week in the end. One so far this week but I have quite a few nights out planned so I will see how it goes.
Well done everyone on their AFD's.HOUSE MOVE FUND £16,000/ £19,000

Hi BHB- yep, have tried antabuse- it doesn't stop cravings or anything like that, it makes you really sick and ill if you have a drink and this is supposed to put you off, and because it stays in your system for up to a week after you stop taking it you know you are going to be really ill if you drink- oh, and you are really ill, I drank when I was on it and had a horrendous reaction-sickness was dreadful. Its designed as a deterrant really. Cheers Eselt0

Just remembered something else that was said on tv this morning
17% of motorists caught driving while over the legal limit were 'morning after' offences:eek:
A VERY sobering thought!!!0 -
Hi Everyone how are you....
I always read this section but am going to post today....I always seem to drink once or twice a week and go to the gym the other days...but when I drink, I drink....a bottle of vodka is not a hard task......and there is no such thing as a glass of wine with dinner, if you know what I mean......
I am from today going to try and stop the binging and move away from thinking going to the gym cancels the drinking....because it doesnt.
Anyway, will try and keep a diary and all your stories are inspiring enough for me to think about my situation and make the first step..so thanks0
