Tom I'm pleased that alcohol can still be fun for you and its brilliant if you can keep it in perspective and not let it take over...unfortunately for some of us, me included, drinking isn't fun and I needed to give up- it pretty much nearly cost me my life, and thats no fun at all.

Best of luck tonight everyone- wheres Jo? more hugs to Winebox and keep going shoppy and fay, and everyone else.

    Good morning all!

Hope everyone is well. I'm quite proud of myself this morning for two reasons:

    A) I've offered to drive tomorrow night - its a big family night out and normally I would use it as an excuse to get plastered! This time will be different!

    B) I've confided in my Mum about my being concerned about my drinking and she's promised to help. Whilst I'm nowhere near being an alcoholic, alcoholism is quite prevalent in both sides of my family. My Mum, very very INfrequent drinker, doesn't want any of us to end up like that. She hates drink and what it does to people.

So feel I've done well so far. Christmas is the test of course. Won't be buying in any alcohol so that should be a good start! Off christmas food shopping this morning and its amazing how much more I can buy now I've crossed all the wine off the list!

    Happy Friday everyone

    Miss P
    xx

  • Hi everyone. :hello: Just popping in to say I am still reading but am by no means AF at the moment so no good news to report.I have also been away fay and know what you mean about airports and flights. Seems to be the only place where its ok to start drinking at early hours. Barcelona has a lot of bars, most of which I have visited in the last week:o :o Anyway need to run to work now but I will be back later to set some new goals. Well done to all the strong people.
    29th Feb Quit Day :j
  • Yesterday was not AF for me either, two cans of beer. Which could have been worse I guess but had planned to get back on the straight and narrow. Not enough to wake me up at 4am at least.

Big party tonight so just a damage limitation exercise today. Will try and remember to drink some water but expect I will drink too much, have a great time tonight and feel pitiful and hungover tomorrow. Is self knowledge supposed to make this easier!?

    Have a good Friday everyone.
  • Morning all, another AFD under my belt:T Did have a momentary lapse of concentration on the way home where I -almost- gave in and bought some wine but then remembered my muskahound agreement with Fay and didn't :T

Miss P - you are doing really well, will be good to have your mum keep a watchful eye on you!

Hi NDC, keep reading and post when you can - good or bad it helps us all

Tom Stick - I know what you mean about whilst you are drinking it but wonder how you are today - was it worth it? (sorry just playing devils advocate:D )

Have a great day everyone and hope you all have good weekend plans? (we are getting our tree which will mean drinking mulled wine and listening to christmas tunes while we deck the halls!:o )

PS Have taken my AD tally off my sig as it is too hard to remember (i know i have the memory of a goldfish!!!)
  • Hey all managed a whole week AF - whilst I don't want to boast as I know its not pretty, am pretty pleased with myself -will read posts later, well done Miss P on speaking to your mum xx

Back to the grind, hugs to you all, any hounds for tonight?

  • Shoppy well done, last week when i had agreed with you and jo not to drink, it helped me just think and say no I promised!!

Gave up on the afd thingmy cos i kept going back to day one, now use date and days i didnt drink ie 3/5 (ie havent drunk for 3 days out of 5) spurns me on a bit more when I have drunk and am back at day one again, it reminded me that there were other days this month that I didnt drink, and its raised my morale a bit xxxx

Hello, I am going to be alcohol free today as I am feeling rubbish today from three days drinking. My sister is meeting me at the weekend to go and see a play and I know she will be drinking (even though there is no reason to drink at the theatre really!:p ) but I am determined not to join her and stay sober.

    Hope everyone is okay today.
