  • Hey well done on the beer tipping and so far do I hear three of us?

Crazy eh - I know its probably the worst month to tackle not drinking so much, but to be honest - any month has a good excuse for me and I am not exactly a party animal anyway - so with that in mind, and the honesty about here (of course) am planning not to drink this month (definately when alone) and try and moderate it with pals if I cannot avoid it or I end up thinking what the heck. Offered to do lots of driving as well.

Muchly to do, will catch up with you all later. x

i'll be a muskahound tonight Jo. i want an AFD and DH isn't back until late so I guess I'll spend a bit more time online than normal. I like the idea of new month new challenge. I know that the whole of december will not be Alcohol free but it would be nice to have he first couple of weeks AF at least.

I don't really go out drinking much at xmas, I do have the work do on the 19th though  I am trying to get out of that. Apart from that, I drive on xmas day and OH is going out with his mates on new years eve and DD1 is planning to go to a mates too, so although I'll be home alone which is the worst temptation for me, I can also just go to bed if it gets bad. I might go up to London on Jan 1st to watch the parade with the kids, that's an early start so wouldn't want to be hung-over'ed anyhow. Blimey, get me, preparing already!!!

ETA: check out the new sig, I plan not to drink during december, then we'll see where we are after that.

  • Hey jo - with you there, found going to bed (very extremely grumpy) is the only solution I can come up with especially when I am alone) Kids going for two weeks and dreading it, heading south to my 'surrogate mother' who drinks like a fish - be challenging to say the least - but OH doesnt drink and I do want to get out and explore lots when in Englandshire.......

  • Although this is one of the hardest challenges, especially at Xmas, I read something in the papers this weekend on how to cope with social situations when you're not drinking. It suggested that you don't draw attention to it and just nurse a drink without actually drinking it. Not sure this would always work though...
Biggest challenge is the fear of being thought boring, ridiculous really

  • With all the Christmas parties coming up over then next few weeks I think the closest I'm going to get to a AF challenge is to do my utmost not to buy my usual midweek wine or beers for drinking at home. Midweek drinking is my real issue when I think about being a DFW.
At least one of my Christmas parties is a free booze affair so it won't damage the old wallet.
