OK.Everybody.I'm back. And I cant wait for tomorrow.I have just spent the last hour catching up on this thread and finishing our last bottle of wine.
I had done nearly three weeks on the wagon then well and truly fell off last week with both mine and OH birthdays, 25th wedding anniversary and a week in Blackpool.
I feel I really everyone down especially when I woke with a hangover and wobbly belly.Never want to feel like that again!!!!!!
So from tomorrow I DONT DRINK WHEN I AM SOBER.
We have no more holidays or celebrations now so should really be able to get rid of this habit once and for all.
Back to my routine of tea and toast when I get in from work at night.
I have put three pounds on as well and am now above my target weight again and my skin is awful.
I need to feel and look glowing again so 'Heres to tomorrow.'

Welcome to all the newbies and well done to you all for doing so well whilst I was away.

  • Oh buggar ! Having a bit of a mixed day today. Had a bit of........well........ one hell of a row with my OH yesterday evening. I could have handled it better...........much better............. he just pressed all the wrong buttons.............and off I went like a rocket................and couldn't calm down!! Stuff whizzing through my head at 100 mph all day today......methinks I'll be needing a few days to get it straight and sorted in my own mind. Funnily enough...............haven't felt like alcohol even though I opened a bottle of red wine to make the gravy for the Sunday roast..................just been feeling sad........................and quite possibly resigned to the fact that things are over. Sorry to ramble on so much..................feel like a right whinger. I'm returning to work tomorrow..............and worried that due to work (which I am desperate to leave) and my unsettled mind, things may get the better of me by midweek.

BHB: Have no sore head..............but the belly is wobbly - more sit ups for me! Thanks for the book reference. Searched for it on Amazon and read some of the reviews..................which were all very good - I shall put it on my wish list. :T I have put in an order for Allen Carr's 'Easy Way to Control Alcohol' as recommended in an earlier posting. Has anyone else read it?
Jacks: Just the one...............a brilliant result :T

Jo: I can picture you as a substance misuse keyworker......................that's one wise head on those shoulders of yours.................and just as importantly you say it so well too - I always enjoy reading your posts. Well done on reaching day 7. :T

Funbrum: Be gentle on yourself................it was only one can you had! Let us know if by cutting down your OH follows suit.

Lamarsi; Hi there. Enjoyed reading your posts. I'd be interested to know the success rate with counselling in your line of work - plus any tips you may have to help us during stressful times.

Ageing biker: Park your bike (lol !) and join us for a while.

Here's to a fine and dandy week. Take care y'all hear now.

    Hi Nearly -there
Hugs to you.Try not to be too sad.
I have read Allen Carrs book called No More Hangovers.I thought it was a great little book and it really inspired me.As you can see from my above post I did nearly three weeks and then weakened.
I am going to have another read of it for inspiration.
Try to sort your mind out and remember Alcohol wont make things better and may well make them a whole lot worse.
    Chin up

  • Hello Mollypolly

Hope you had a great time in Blackpool.
You can put a line under it now and start again tomorrow...................soon your skin will be glowing and the weight will ease off.
I just wanted to say I'm sure it was you who recommended the Allen Carr book............'I don't drink when I'm sober' quote triggered a memory.
Soooooooooooo looking forward to reading the book..................thanks :T

AB, take all the time you need, you can't screw the fag quit up :)

Mollypolly, tea and toast is definately the way to go hun, we are all here for you to rant at when you get in tomorrow evening :D

Nearly-There, hun, hope everything works out ok indoors, if you need a shoulder feel free to pm me :) One thing I will say (that I'm not too good at practising :o ), if a row is gonna happen, it's better that you're totally sober so you know what you're saying and your OH can't accuse you of saying things whilst under the influence if you know what I mean. Plus you'll know in your heart that what you're saying is true. Good luck hunny, I'm always here :) x

Oh and another thing, I've got the AC book, it's very little but very good. Full of common sense stuff really but stuff you don't think about.
