  • Hi All
I'm doing great thanks Jo - Losing count of the days and hours now - must be a good sign hey? .... eh ? + 2 = + z um?
    262 hours !! Can I call that 11 days - near enough isn't it.
Though I have to say - bit of a sleepy head this morning. The youngest is not very well so have not had my excellent nights sleep. Having said that - clear head, no headache, no wobbly tummy - can't be bad!
Its definitely getting easier day by day. Even said to DW last night - that until we got into bed I hadn't really thought about alcohol at all yesterday. Even then it wasn't a craving - more of an observation, if you know what I mean.

Anyway - hows every one doing this morning?

    Best Wishes
    Andy

FunBrum, you didn't let anyone down, least of all us! You didn't exactly go out on a bender did you :rotfl:

Don't worry about it, a small glitch in the scheme of things which will all be forgotten about tomorrow :)

Got much snow up your way?

oh bo***** just typed a very LONG post answering all flippin pressed the wrong button!! Ahhh!
In short said a huge well done for those abstaining & dont give up those that didnt manage it!
I do think that the hangover is irrelivant - just cos you dont have one doesent mean you dont have a problem!! If anything it IS more worrying not to cos your body is expecting alch and that is a problem!! Regardless of hangover or not look at your units and be honest with yourselves if not us lol!!
Re the confidence from alch part of giving up is relearning life without that crutch just as my stopping shopping is learning to deal with life without buying tat...try some strategies for developing confidence...look at what you enjoy doing and do more of it and even better see if you can make some money...ie I rediscovered my love of cooking & now sell marmalade! While its miniscule profit the boost that comes from people saying how yummy it is is fab!!
HUgs all...each day is a new one!

  • Well done peeps - we're on a roll :T:T:T

We are getting there aren't we Jo?

Nice one Jacks! Keep it Up.

For those lacking confidence - (Me included) I can thoroughly recommend a self help book - "Feel the fear and do it anyway" By Susan Jeffers. It got me out of a full blown nervous breakdown when I was younger. It puts things in perspective and I found it really useful. I am not as confident as I would like but much improved, having said that I would rather be less confident than loud and arrogant! I am guessing that most other people would rather have you that way too. It just a case of how you look at it.

  • Forgot to say - Being not-confident can have its good points. I was not confident to go out and meet people after my 1st marriage broke up. If I had of been confident in meeting people I would not have placed an ad in the local lonely hearts bit of the paper and would not have met my lovely wife of 6 years and have 2 more beautiful children, the smallholding that we own and a lifestyle that now suits me.

See - not having confidence does have its good points.

I don't think there's anything wrong in giving people tips on what to read if it's gonna help someone :)

hello all just wanted to say good morning to you all and good on you for giving up the liquor! Up until a few months ago i worked as a drug and alcohol worker for ten years but seeing the effects of booze never stopped me from drinking excessively as i never equated what they did with my nights out,but when i started working as a taxi driver at nights a couple of years ago it hit me, i picked people up and took them to town then a few hours later took them home and they were unsually a mess, and i thought thats how me and my mates are! last night a picked a fella up (in the taxi btw!) who i went out with a few years ago and he was so drunk he'd forgotten who i was! ( he also forgot he'd paid and did it again ha!!! ) Although i do drink occassionally now, I don't get drunk anymore and feel so much better for it, i found that with my clients it seemed the ones trying to quit herion found it easier than those trying to stop drinking anyhows i'm going on abit now just wanted to say good on ya's all!
