  • Thankyou has anyone else been given tablets like this?

I haven't been to the docs yet, keep putting it off, think some of the others have more experience with stuff like this so sure someone with experience will post at some point! xx

Sorry not much help on that front, if you read the thread back a few weeks though someone answered me about that question - just can't remember exactly when it was.

    YOur doc sounds really supportive.

Hi always running- well done for taking the step to see the doctor and get some help. Many people (me included) have several attempts at getting sober, or at least getting their drinking in perspective, so don't give up now- please please don't. The meds you were on were to reduce the impact of withdrawal, but you still need to do the head work- no amount of meds can do that for you I'm afraid- you've got to dig deep and summon all your strength and accept its going to be tough, and that you won't be the same person when you come out the other end. Do it now- the depression, the lethargy, the illness, the feeling scared and hopeless will lift when you give up- I promise you that. Don't leave it as late as me- the penny didn't drop until I was in hospital with 5 weeks to live and my children had had to go and live with their dad- I didn't really care about my life by then, but ruining my childrens lives?- thats just unforgivable. You can do this- people do, why not you? You deserve a good life, its there for the taking- best of luck.

No, its not too late, don't even go there- you're alive, you can do this, it sounds like you've got a great GP and lots of support and you sound motivated to want to change- theres lots of hope even if it doesn't seem like it today. Come on, get up on our wagon and live your life- it doesn't have to be like this, honest- take care.
  • chordiazepoxide---just did another post but lost it .

I feel i have left it to late and that the symptoms are telling me that there is something seriously wrong now.

How do the rest of you go to work and manage childcare.i can't.
  • Hi there alwaysrunning, It sounds like your doctor is really good, have you gone through your symptoms with him/her I am sure they will make sure they do the best they can for you - if you are worried and can talk the them its a great relationship to have.

Some days its a real struggle but somehow one foot in front of the other i kinda get there - the kids keep me going really - i am on my own with them, so when I am the most down I plod on, get out of bed, breath in and out because they need to be taken care of. I cant say its very easy but somehow we get there. Not sure about other people, mostly I feel as if I hardly hold it together but someow we do. Its one of the reasons I am trying to stop, my work is suffering, my children don't get the best of me and i do need to change that.

Hi always running. well done for coming on hear and posting. i am sorry no one was on hear earlier when you posted, sounds like you really wanted someone to speak to.
the most important thing now is not to feel like a failure. so you went to the docs and stopped and then started again. so what. its in the past, move on from it, forget and start again. the worst thing you can do is beat yourself up and think that you cant do it. it is NEVER too late. read eselts post again, there is some brutally honest stuff on here from people who had to almost lose it all to finally stop.

your question about managing work and childcare is the reason i stopped. because i wasnt managing and I was the only one who could change that.

please keep posting, there is immense support here

    xx

    What tablets are they?

I'm surprised you got tablets without counselling??

Sorry, just noticed that I'd only read to the page before! Trying to cook a sunday roast at the same time!

Actually popped back to say 'hi, sorry I sounded rushed and welcome :) :D'

Then I noticed my question had been answered, has your doc offered you counselling before the tablets?
