Hi WB- so sorry to hear your news, thinking about you tonight and your family.

Jo, welcome back, don't leave it so long next time- we've missed you.

Seems like some of you are on a roll with the AFD's- brilliant, and those who are struggling best of luck. I was thinking today that this thread is better than any AA meeting I've been too- you can choose your time, decide whether to get involved or not, take some time out without any pressure and there are no rules and regulations or references to a 'higher' power or 12 steps to follow- most of all though noone on here claims to have the definative answer and we don't judge- just support and encourage, whereever we are at. I was also thinking about 'well, someones got to be a recovering alcoholic- so why not me?'- its the sort of label I can live with.

    Best of luck everyone tonight
  • Evening All,

Seems quite a few AFD posted , I'm hopefully going to add to the list tonight. Actually away on business but heading for a zero day, first in weeks. The OH went out last night and I managed one and a half bottles of wine and 4 beers. Felt absolutelyawful this morning. The bags around the eyes were dragging on the floor. But determined to get some zero days.

    Good luck everyone

    Nick
  • I managed to shop late always bad for me cos I normally cave in and buy wine - drove through many 'puddles' and even negotiated the wine isle with my eyes fixed firmly on the floor.

There is alcohol outside, in the shed - but, keep telling myself if I can get through today again then its another fiver in my jar, a better nights sleep and a clear head tomorrow, we have taken in a lodger person who eats brekkie at 7.15am - what was I thinking - so need a clear head.

Nice to hear the encouragement - all the words are keeping me right today - so thanks x

  • I am so sorry to hear about your dad WB, what a horrible shock. sort of puts things into prospective doesnt it - sending hugs.

so glad your back jo, not the same without you here! think you are really brave coming back and been so honest.

Hi eselt, Shoppy, Sianne, bis, faymajack, biscotte and everyone else and welcome aboard nick, good luck for tonight. those hungover eye bags are a great incentive.

Quickie...just when you think it's getting easier....what a garbage day...won't go anywhere near describing it but sheesh....I can almost feel the hangover I'd have had....and I know that one wouldn't have made the slightest difference and I wouldn't have stopped until I was a complete mess and made tomorrow absolutely impossible for myself....how do you try and follow up a carp day when you're ill before you start....after years of trying, that's one puzzle I'm glad I don't have to figure out.

re the labels thing...recovering alcoholic? dunno...that was always a tricky one for me...didn't want the badge at all as I'd probably blurt it out sometime inappropriate! Easier for me to say I don't drink - then people can respect my choice without getting any misconceptions.

Well, I've swilled goodness knows how many hot drinks down me so I'll probably have a broken nights sleep if you know what I mean...

    take care everyone.

WB, so sorry to hear your news xx

Didn't do that well last night, bought 4, drank 1 quite happily then when I'd almost drunk the 2nd one I felt guilty and thought that I really didn't want to be half cut later in the evening, plus there's a programme I wanted to watch (and remember!), so as I was in the bath at the time, I tipped the other 2 down the plug hole when I was letting the water out. Not entirely mini-miracle, but nearly! I felt okay after I'd done that, didn't have any more cravings, feel okay this morning, a little sluggish maybe but nothing like the monster hangovers I've been experiencing....least I don't need paracetamol this morning :D

    Hope everyone's well?
    xx
