  • Well done Jo, I am impressed with you stopping like that; something I haven't done before yet. No hangover this morning is good too.

I managed my first AFD in a couple of weeks yesterday. Kind of wish I lived somewhere that didn't have a late opening Sainsbury's as didn't feel sure I'd made it until I went to bed.
  • Good morning all!

AFD 4 dawned bright and early for me today (I am shall we say somewhat amazed I have made it this far! )

Winebox - so sorry to hear about your dad, sending you big (((hugs)))

Jo- so glad to have you back, we have missed you! well done on chucking beer down the sink:T I never quite manage it on the night but have regularly thrown leftovers away in the morning (telling myself that this is the last time I will buy it:o )
WBF Well done on your AFD yesterday:T

Eselt I agree this is such a great support to have and being able to pop in and out whenever we need it is useful
Nick51 good luck for having an AFD soon - you CAN do it

Hi to Eselt, Bis, Molly, Fay, Polaroid and Sianne, Biscotte, Diff Corner (sorry if I have missed anyone!) :D

Have a great AFD everyone xx
  • BTW where is BHB not heard anything from him for a while??
  • Winebox, really sorry to hear your bad news - it must be really difficult for you all to take in a 'digest'. I hope your Dad copes well with the future and he gets all the palliative care he needs.

Good to see you back Jo - thanks for sharing all that with us - sorry you've been in a dark place.
Faye and wannabe, thanks for sharing your alcohol avoidance tips with me - I shall draw on them this weekend.
good luck Nick, you CAN do it.

i went out for a meal last night and had a couple of glasses of wine - feel OK this morning but my tummy is a bit uneasy - I think that's also due to the richness of the food.
Going to have an early night tonight - I just feel really tired.

    Have a good day

  • Well done jo! Thanks for sharing some of your situations seem very familiar to me, especially the popping back to shops etc etc etc.

Well done on only drinking a couple.

I still have some beer and cider in the cold shed, wet walk, under some laundry (its where the machine is honest) - thus far I only had some when caved at weekend - but when I am in the supermarket it does stop me buying it, cos its already there (if htat makes sense?) Want the resolve to pour it all down the sink.

Has anyone gone to their local alcohol advisory councelling service? My contact via drugs/substance abuse email has recommended I go down and get some one to one help. Something about me being a reflective person? Whatever that means, they can tell that from emails?

Anyone been and have they found it helpful?

Well done you all who managed AFD's - I did, had WB in my ear (virtual ear) telling me to get on with it (in a nice way), so ta - getting up at half six to do brekkies is hard enough anyway. Sleeping terribly can't decide if its the cold or not being a few glasses down before I sleep. I think its the cold medicine and the caffine they load into it - why do they do it?

My money is in my 'wine fund' jar today - if its day 3 thats £15 quid, which I can save or spend on anything but alcohol.

Much love to you all and thanks for the help this thread is giving me, hope you are all very well today and not all snotty and snivvelly like me. (sorry TMI)

Hi I remember I also use to do what Wannabe does I think, drink something I don't really like - for me its beer, cant stand the stuff - then never have more than one or two cos its horrid.
