  • Can I join you please? Have been lurking for a while, whilst I plucked up courage to admit I was drinking too much. Saturday night I had 3/4 of a bottle of wine and 2 cans of lager and that isn't unusual. last night I was going to not drink but couldn't - in the end I just had one can of lager and am !!!!ed off with myself as if i hadn't had that then I would have been on my 2nd AF day instead of my first.

This time a day is my danger time - home from work, sorting kids out, everyone shrieking!!! But i know if I have one, I will have the whole bottle.

    Blooming hard this is.
Cogito ergo sum. Google it you lazy sod !!

I think I'm in month 3 of my beer belly reduction plan. This has now panned out as me not drinking 5 days a week, and then when I do my tolerance has gone right down. It's great, and urge anyone who feels ready to give it a go.
The weight loss has been dramatic. I eat a healthy diet, don't eat if I don't feel hungry, and do a lot of exercise. Belly has gone, just a bit of "love handle" to lose now. It's been great motivation, I reckon in another 3 months that'll be gone. I've no idea of weight loss because I don't have any scales, but I can see it.
    Happy chappy

Winebox- so glad you are feeling a bit better- you gave me quite a fright last night!!!!

Welcome lousie- jump on board the wagon.

Tom- I am so jealous of you!!!!! I gave up drinking 14th Dec 07 and I reckon because I am now eating properly etc I have put weight on- when I was drinking I could never face food, but now I eat 3 meals a day and have a wicked sweet tooth too! Well done on cutting down dramatically- the results must motivate you to keep it up.

    See you all later- eselt

don't actually think I've lost anything but I know I am healthier than I was! the thought of food used to sometimes make me feel sick...

in the scheme of things stopping eating rubbish is a lot easier than the other stuff...or so I believe....just havent found that particular motivation yet - although I'm working on it!

well done on the washboard abs, Tom! ;) I'm sure they are there somewhere...rumour has it I've got some too but it may take a few years for them to come out of hibernation.

  • Hello everyone,
I would like to join you please. I'm a bit of a lurker on this thread and quite new to the forums but i really have got to the point where i need to cut out alcohol.
As i write this I'm nursing a mild hangover - you know, no energy, sluggish, slight dull headache and apathy towards everything. i drank the best part of a bottle of wine yesterday, just tippling with dinner and into the evening and unfortunately that level of drinking is not too unusual.
i've had a rocky relationship with booze all my adult life really - plenty of binge drinking (as student/young adult). Now it's less concentrated but constant drinking. neither is good. I'm not good at cutting down - just one is never enough and weakens my willpower terribly.

So I have to give up I reckon, maybe not for ever but certainly for now. The one thing in my favour is that I did manage to stop smoking once I put my mind to it so I know I can quit and have some determination.

As I have read this thread so much of what you all discuss has been so familiar to me and so helpful. i just want to stand up and be counted i guess - out of the shadows for me.

Louise, i recognise that early evening witching hour when i long to hear the plop of the cork coming out. Sometimes i am lamost at the end of an AFD and will then decide I 'deserve' a glass. We need to just keep the lid on! As Mad eye Moody would say 'Constant Vigilance!'
  • Welcome Louise and biscotte, nice to have you aboard:D this is a rocky road (as you have probably gathered from reading the thread) for most of us on here, there are one or two current :A (bis, eselt, molly, jo :D ) and the rest of us have our ups and downs at the moment so you are in good company and we all understand how difficult it is to admit to our 'problem' - good luck to you both and look forward to chatting with you!

As for me, I am on day 3 AFD this week :T feeling nice and healthy and looking forward to a night of ironing  hope everyone is ok today?
