You are right, Biscotte. I have felt so tired today after drinking red wine followed by Malibu last night (although ive managed the housework, a ton of washing and ironing and also took the dogs for a long walk!). Im not drinking tonight and have enjoyed a nice cup of tea instead. I know I will wake up brighter and with more energy tomorrow and am looking forward to it!

Hope everyone's OK tonight....I took a mental journey back to 1997 when I went out with a friend midweek - and we were both working next day.

I stayed over ( it was a good 35 minutes away) and when we came back he said he was going to bed as he had to be up at 6am....he said I could help myself to his rum.

I was away from home - had a house, lovely girlfriend, secure job, not really anything to be stressed about.

Why did I decide that I should make a big dent in this rum?

Simple answer was because I could...didn't need to, just felt like it after a few beers with my friend.

I thought earlier that I had a huge fear of stress or not being able to sleep or not being able to control things but this scenario just stuck out as being odd...there was really no reason.

I woke up next morning feeling like hell and drove home for a change of clothes and took a small backroad that saved 5 minutes off the journey....it was about 6.30 am and I lost my wingmirror as a car came towards me at speed.

I pulled over and collected the bits of mirror from the middle of the road as dawn was breaking and it felt like something out of Mad Max...spooky....had I not drunk the night before I'd have probably driven more safely full stop...and not lost the wing mirror...and possibly more.

So...when I think about what alcohol cost me, I can hazard a guess...but it many ways I'm very lucky to still be here.

    take care
For what I've done...I start again...And whatever pain may come ...Today this ends... I'm forgiving what I've done -AF since June 2007

Well I had no drink last night and also managed a bit of a lie in till 8.00 (usually have to get up at 7.00 but daughter is off college with a bad cold!). As a result I feel wide awake and ready for the day.

Had a strange dream though where I was out with various friends and relatives (not in a pub!) and it dawned on me that they were all drinking and had just assumed that I would be driving. I was furious and was desperately looking for some dregs of vodka because I was stressed and needed a drink! Don't know why I dreamt this but I really felt very annoyed in my dream!

I can understand you drinking the rum, Bis, just because it was there. I thought you were going to say that you took the back roads so that you were at less risk of being stopped by the police and breathalysed! I look back at times like that too and wonder why I did it.
  • Hello all

I am now on Day 5 AFD again :T I am actually feeling very chirpy and positive and I really think it has a lot to do with the lack of alcohol  I am by nature a pessimistic person but lately I have been seeing the positive side of everything which is a change but very nice!!

Hope you are all ok, it is fairly quiet on here at the moment and a few regulars are noticeable by their absence?

    See you all later xx
