hey guys,

jo just read your post and cried. i havnt been on here for a week or so. i am AF but i am struggling to deal with my feelings of guilt. i ve been spending really beautiful time with my daughter. just simple things, playing dolls, cooking and lots of hugs. i am gobsmacked by my new found patience. but i feel so bad, this last year since i split with my partner i have justified things to people such as " i am having such a hard time, i am having to sort things out for me and my daughter" and drinking to numb my pain, but since i have stopped i have had a HUGE wake up call. its all been about me. and my little girl just seems so happy to spend time with me. and she doesnt resent me for it or say anything (shes only 3) and that makes me feel worse!
the effects of alcohol on peoples lives are so big. its like a legal drug. like you say jo, the image a lot of people have (inc. me) of an alcoholic been someone in particular..

DC come back and talk if you feel able. no one is judging you here, we have have all been there (or round about!) at some point.

Sorry to report I have failed miserably! A work colleague left on Friday - we had worked together for 3 1/2 years and I will miss her so much, I just felt so upset on Friday I 'needed' a drink and OH had some too, we also drank last night and have decided we are going to 'allow' ourselves to have a drink once a week,on a Saturday night.

I am still pleased I managed 5 days last week and I am not having any tonight or indeed till next Saturday - hope you are all not too cross with me

Cross? don't be a mare! Like you said yourself, we are all human. Tonight, I am a far greater failure - OH & I have had what I think is The Final Row, I am back home tho I am usually at his on a Sunday night & yes I have opened one of those bottles I have at home to drown my sorrows & yes I know it won't change things but I cannot stop crying & I just want oblivion & I cannot bear the thought that it's me on my own now - & yes the row was that bad. Um am going to go now for a while

Oh Winebox!!!! So sorry you are upset- sending ((hugs))- maybe it won't be so bad when things have cooled down a bit?

Hope everyone has been safe in the floods...I have been dreading it as when we had flooding last time here we all had to go to the local pub for 24 hrs until the water subsided...and lets just say the Dunkirk spirit flowed freely...nightmare!!!!
