Bismarck, This is what I dont understand.I know drink makes me feel and look awful, it causes rows etc and I hate the thought of being hungover, so Why oh why do I still fancy a drink????
Alcohol must really have some magical powers.

This is what I said a few weeks ago! I can't understand why I still want the stuff! All it does is make you tired and give you a headache(or worse!) If I was to try a delicious new food that I enjoyed and it then made me feel like that the next day I would be quite worried and would steer clear of it in future. But because its alcohol we are all trained to think of it as normal.

it's a cultural conspiracy....in my view, harder than the physical side of it is the change you need to make to your lifestyle and way of viewing things.

hey guys, felt a bit funny yesterday knowing the website was down!! bit lost!
just read through the posts - WELL DONE everyone. you are doing really really well. you should all be very proud of yourselves.
the best thing i ever did was to get rid of the alcohol in my house. i wish that i had done it a long time ago.

I had a breakthrough yesterday morning, i looked in the mirror and my face looked about 10 years younger, fine lines around my eys are fading (who needs botox!), the whites are whiter and no longer have the red /yellow tinge, my skin isnt blothcy. it was the motivation that i needed, i cant beleive i have convinced myself for so long that i didnt have a problem and it wasnt affecting my health. all the little bumps on the back of my arms have gone and all my skin feels lovely and soft.
my synopsis is : Alcohol is bad for you - chocolate isnt

good for you....the best stuff actually hits you gradually as time goes on - some things take months to make you go "oooh, I'm glad about this bit...." - yes there are some sacrifices to make but you get so much back - you just need to take the time to notice and appreciate it....the longer you give it the better it gets ....

  • Hi all, well I am officially tee-total as from today

Had a great day out with DH yesterday, we ate at a tapas restaurant and then drank cocktails in a posh bar and then got totally trollied!! I am ashamed to say I can't remember the last part of the night, have no recollection of ordering kebabs or the taxi ride home or getting into bed and this morning I realised I have somehow lost both my contact lenses, the case was lying empty in the bathroom! I am so disgusted with myself and so instead of waiting till the 1st September as planned I have quit as of today.

I have felt ill all day, eaten loads of rubbish and not done a thing - what a total waste of a day!!

Just read through the posts and you are all an inspiration in one way or another, I feel very scared and apprehensive about my journey to come but I know I can depend on you all for support.

Eselt, I'm so glad you're enjoying life meds free...I actually thought but didn't wanna say that some say - me included - that Campral isn't actually that strong and sometimes it's all in the head like a lightly medicated placebo iykwim...I'm glad it's helped you and it certainly did no harm but I think you need to give yourself a pat on the back from far far back rather than the last 3 days :)

Shoppy, welcome back on board, I'll hold on tightly to ya....brought some extra choklit supplies to tempt you back :rotfl:

Beth, that's true what you say about the food...if you knew you had an adverse reaction to seafood you wouldn't touch it so why go through alcohol poisoning everyday  My counsellor made me laugh when he said it's like having the !!!!!!'s and saying 'god I can't wait for that again!' :rotfl: - Shoppy this analogy might help with your journey over the next week or two?

Hi to everyone else, gotta get off to bed now, plus the tapping of the keyboard is bugging OH who's trying to watch telly, time to cut my nails I reckon!! Hold on, lets bug him a bit more J;PIJDFIJFIFJIPFJSOIFJIJFIEHZN;KC;JKEJRI;JFIJF;J :rotfl:

    Night all

    Aw Elantan.
Sending hugs to you big style:grouphug:
I had the exact same words from my DH a few years ago when he went throught a midlife crisis I think.Alcohol certainly didnt help the situation.
At the time I was drinking as well so things were really bad.
I hope your situation isnt too bad and that your OH calms down tomorrow.
Try not to be pushed into a fight tonight.I find it so much easier to bite my tongue now that I dont drink.I hope you do too.
Take care and look after yourself and please dont be tempted to drown your sorrows with alcohol. You are doing really well.
