Oh dear, sorry mymate bob & for that matter bhb.
It's manic in work today so I'm dodging about in the system & taking loads of calls, & posted reply without checking.

I work in a small sort-of-callcentre (only 6 desks), we provide an answering service for 250-ish companies, all sorts of professions. One of the staff here has just taken a call for a psychotherapist & exclaimed when she put the phone down, "I can't believe that gentleman, who was so well spoken & so pleasant, was seeking help for alcohol abuse. You'd think someone with a problem like that would be slurring all over the place"
I am maintaining a discreet silence.

Abstainer: A weak person who yields to the temptation of denying themselves pleasure.

Would you jump into a car with a complete stranger? Would you go home with a complete stranger that you've only just met?

    Quite powerful stuff![/quote]

Er...well yes I would/have...not drinking doesn't seem to have readjusted my moral compass I'm afraid........   Its good not to hug the loo and throw up everywhere anymore though...bad old days indeed.

Feeling perky and chipper this morning-well I was until ex OH rang chuffed to bits that he has just picked up a complete winemaking set up from freecycle- when he got there little old lady explained it was her husbands hobby but as he died recently she wants to clear the garage-theres tons of the stuff, demijons, pipes, packets of chemicals, thermometers, guide books...all for free!!! The best bit was she apologised that she hadn't had time to clean the demijons and that they were all still full of wine...could he take them anyway...gallons of the stuff!!! When I think about all the money I've spent on the bloody stuff, and now I've given up its free!!!!Sods law I suppose.

Best of luck to everyone today.

Brilliant- well done everyone- whichever stage you are at- oohh and I've been through some stages in my time...no more sobbing into my pint on my own for me...I might have turned 40 this week (dear god where did all the time go?) - but I didn't touch a drop- asked everyone to buy me voulchers for my local guitar shop and have got some brilliant new music, a mic and a new twelve string- dosen't get much better than that- neighbours are battening down the hatches as I crank up the amp, new gain/reverb pedal at the ready- will do a those were the days my friends to keep me on the straight and narrow.

    Jackie

what kind of 12 string is it? It's somewhere on my "when I'm rich list", after an acoustic bass and a Rickenbacker 4001 bass and a Rickenbacker 6 string....

congrats on your 40th...my time will come
For what I've done...I start again...And whatever pain may come ...Today this ends... I'm forgiving what I've done -AF since June 2007
