Hi Cabbagegrower
Good luck with the smoking, I am on week 6 now of no fags or booze (decided to do it all together), and am using the one to one sevice from NHS too. I have tried so many times to quit aswell, I am on patches and the inhaltor which I find really good.
I found the first week really hard to adjust to quitting everything (or so it seemed at the time), but now I feel fine, still get the odd cravings, but nothing major. I had smoked alot of fags for 24 years and probably drank way too much for the last 10 years. But I do feel 100% better now.
Anyway good luck

Hi Clara, thanks for your reply and well done you- I've heard so many horror stories about the counselling so it is nice to hear that it does work! A friend of mine said it was being locked in a room with a smoking nazi who couldn't and wouldn't understand how quitting was so hard! obviously not an ex-smoker! Needless to say my friend is still smoking....
Quitting smoking and cutting down drinking have got to go hand in hand for me (and possibly even coffee) the two are inextricably linked. When I have quit before it was always having too much to drink which made me cave and start smoking again.

Hi Sue-UU
Thank you so much for all your support!! :A It really does mean a lot.
Looking forward to joining you on the weed thread in the next few months. Has to be the booze first for me....and I'm now determined to get it sorted before beginning of May. (May = holiday = give up weed...sound like Bill & Ben don;t I :rotfl: )
Once again...thank you.

Quite understand SAHTTK, I'm sure I'd be the same. You concentrate on all those 'feeling rough' thoughts/memories, they may well be all the will power you need, but all the very best regardless.
Hi cabbagegrower, well done and one of these days you'll find that strength within, just keep in that circle until you do, but every time you fall out of it, just get straight back in , when you're ready. You'll make it one day and be so proud, all of you will.

Thanks ISOM, though shame on you with your inference of those initials  didn't you notice you missed out the A....and the last word beginning with a T??! Tut, tut, though I did make me giggle!:D Well done with the no alch since Saturday and well done with resisting yesterday, that's what it's all about. Good luck with the weekend and just remember, you're not alone!
Many congratulations Clara on 12 WEEKS! That is a long time without BOTH and is absolutely brilliant! I hope you're feeling so extremely proud of yourself, you too Mollypolly, you two have come a long way, very well done and keep up the tea and toast or whatever works for you!:D
Baby steps cabbagegrower as it's whichever works the best for you, the main thing is that you're trying hard. The appointment on the 2nd April may be just that very time for the fags at least, but never be embarrassed about confessing to your Doc or asking for his help with the drinking as it's patients like you he/she gets so pleased about. It's an addiction so just ask next time you're there and good luck. Meanwhile, I'll send you some tips about giving up the ciggies.
All the very best to everyone over the weekend and do try and be strong.

Morning all - how you all doing? Have a bit of a hangover (1 glass wine & 2 cans G&T) and I did wake up feeling why bother!! How are pepys feeling about BH w/e? Always a toughie I suspect as we all relax and chill and the old patterns settle in.....Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0

Hey
Still had no drink, although I suspect I might have a glass or two this weekend - think it's been about 4 weeks now? But I am ok at having a drink, but it'll be a test to see if I can just manage one or two glasses and not one or two bottles...we shall see. Not drinking anything today, and may not this weekend and it's so full of chlidren's activities and church at 9.30 on sunday, so don't want to feel rough...
Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Woohoo no alcohol for me last night!!!! very rare as I always have to celebrate the start of a long weekend. Might have something to do with the glorious tummy bug that my son has given to me though........I am not a well bunny but will use this opportunity to have a few days off it and then hopefully the need will go away.
Can anyone send me a bout of the flu and then maybe I won't fancy smoking for a week either?...£15k of unsecured debt.....oh dear0 -
Hi everyone...good luck for the weekend. I think we should thank our benign government for making the things we crave so much more expensive than they used to be. Whenever I get tempted I just tell myself that coffee is MUCH cheaper and that I'm not paying THAT much for stuff that makes me feel cr*p.
I've been stopped on the booze for over 9 months and was at the point where one glass of wine was nothing and opened bottles of wine never made it to the fridge...guess it had to go...For what I've done...I start again...And whatever pain may come ...Today this ends... I'm forgiving what I've done -AF since June 20070
