Poppies- well done for taking stock of where your drinking might be leading- perhaps the first step might be a chat with your GP or a really good friend. Your GP is the gatekeeper to some really important services, he can refer you to counsellors, alcohol specialists, local support groups etc, as well as checking out your general health. I think its really important to look at all the support out there and try and decide which might suit you. For example, I hated the idea of group meetings and just couldn't pluck up the courage to go because I felt so ashamed and dreaded anyone recognising me. For other people I've spoken to weekly group meetings have saved their lives and they swear by them. So its horses for courses really, but the people on this thread have a vast amount of experience to offer and can give you support- its vital that you are around positive and non-judgmental people who will not give up on you0

Morning all, just had a Michael Buble blast out in the headphones, even though I can't really stand the bloke, that song is very powerful, especially the line about 'sleep in peace when the day is done', that'd be nice. I'm hoping my waking up and forcing myself to think positively, this will change the mindset I'm slowing getting myself stuck back into. Gonna ring the counsellor today to tell him I've boogered up and see what he suggests, don't know if I should still go down to 1 on Thursday or not? Had a phone message from them yesterday anyway saying they've got a Wednesday early evening slot for ongoing counselling if I'm interested, so gotta ring to find out about that.
Hope everyone has a nice day

Morning all.
Welcome Poppies and welcome back AB.
I am feeling quite melancholy this morning.
After reading the post from Nearly there last night I had a read back through some of this thread.
It made me realise how powerful this alcohol stuff is.At the end of April everyone was really positive.Jo and BHB and others were well and truly on the wagon and many had joined in cutting down/giving up.
Now it seems most are struggling or have disappeared completely.
Whatever happened to Lurky, & Yellowmonkey etc.
Why is it such a DEMON?????????
Going to listen have a blast of Michael Buble myself now.
SORRY!!!!
