Im sure you wouldn't find the "Easy Way to Control Alcohol" book scary. Believe me, Im easily frightened and I got on with it fine! Good luck with whatever one you do read!:hello:0 -
Evening All
The counselling turned out not to be so much counselling as more paperwork and her getting an idea of what I was about as she was not the one that I had my initial triage visit with.
I'm so glad I went to the trouble of a 25 mile bike ride to save a few quid on petrol and parking....... ooooooh my legs and bum ache :eek::eek:. Getting the feeling I might be wasting my time .... but at least it wasn't cancelled this time.
I let her off though - the 'counseller' had had an operation that went wrong so she had some extended sick leave which put my visit back a few times.
Anyway I will see what its like next week and decide on whether its worth it then. I am supposed to be getting 'motivational therapy' whatever that is??
I didn't think I needed much motivation to drink ? :rotfl::rotfl:
She said don't have anything to drink between now and Friday .... another useful gem of advice ???? ... Its worth it to see what happens next
Best wishes everyone
Right - Allen Carr .....Amazon ..... where are you?

Surely if you could do that then you wouldn't need the councelling! If someone said that to me I would want a drink even more!:eek:
I would get on with the Allen Carr book. Waterstones and WH Smiths sell it if you don't want to wait for Amazon.0 -
Just ordered it from Amazon. New @ 56p + £2.75 postage. worth a try at that price!

I am determined not to have a drink today. I take DD to Brownies on a Monday & as OH lives near to where that is I go round to his for dinner rather that do 2 10-mile round trips. so test (1) is not to have my usual glass of wine with dinner & test (2) is not to drop into the Co-op on my way to pick DD up! Once home I'm safe can't get any
Phew, made it. Woohoo! First alch free day in ages ages ages! :A Dodgy moment when arrived at OH's as the smell of garlic bread wafted out which cries out for a glass of wine but had neither. Pleaded fatness / dieting as my reason (very true - my midriff has expanded hugely - is that the drink? The scales don't say I've gained weight but I look like a bloater, can't get anything done up round the waist)
Hope the numb bum soon wears off BHB.
Bit of telly then off to bed with Allen. Omigod will not have a hangover tomorrow - when was the last time....:D
Have a good evening all0 -

Most of it - finish it at lunchtime.......
Might go and get the other one, too..... is it much different? I'm finding it all very similar to the stop smoking one, but then it would be, wouldn't it? Comparisons can be made.....:dance:There's a real buzz about the neighbourhood :dance:0
