Hi all, still lurking but being decidedly not good so keeping quiet. Off for mini holiday this afternoon, just until Wed, no internet so will have a lot of catching up to do next week. And I know I'm doing the "manana" thing again but having a day 1 on day 1 of hols is TOO HARD! I ordered the Allen Carr book ages ago & it arrived yesterday, am leaving it on my bedside table to come back to and also will be returning to an alcohol free house (we are self catering am taking it all with me!). Very good luck to all of you whose aims are higher than mine (not difficult) over the weekend.

evening all...hugs BB but as thers have aidjust get back on the wagon. Do try the 0% becks as its great for those "fancy a drink" days but without the alch...I would ring the manager of th counc place & make a formal complaint. 5 cancellations is not on and I would challenge them about the messages they are giving you as your value to them as a client. Quite simply it is not good enough.....
No alch for me this week but have had 0% beer & quite enjoy it!
Hang in there Jo, winebox & others struglling....hope pepys are ok over the BH as know its a tough one....

    Evening all,
    Thanks NT & ISOM... :D

Have just found Cobra 0% beer - didn't know they did that .. Not bad really - must put it the fridge first though. I think I would be quite happy drinking that on 'special occasions' ....... Fridays ;)

Will get that book, perhaps will have a play om Amazon later.

    Have a great night all

    Best wishes

    One for the weekend...

My mother remarried in the mid-nineties. I have a step-brother and met up with him and the family at around the time of the wedding was being arranged in 1994. We had "drinks and nibbles" in the garden.

He was married and had 3 children and an idyllic lifestyle.

    Or so it seemed.

He is now homeless, divorced and jobless. He has no passport or means of identification. And can't afford a month's rent.

His friend was at the same social gathering and turned 50 recently.

He died last week and was found in his bed by his 18 year old daughter, having just re-emerged from another stay in hospital and started drinking again....

    Hi Guys,

Hope you are all doing ok.Been lurking for a few days just reading, but havn't had too much to say.I have been feeling quite depressed.I dont think its anything to do with giving up though.Do you?

Busy trying to pay off some debts etc.I really dont know how I managed to afford to buy alcohol as I dont seem any better off now that I have stopped.

Its day 47 for me now and still going strong, but the urge is still there. But I know if I have one I would be back to square one and I dont want to go to that dark place again.

Have a good weekend and keep on trying/cutting back/giving up.

Quickie for now...was thinking about this at teatime...a big thing to click for me was the link between depression and alcohol...I spent years denying it and yet the stats are there when you look at at the mental anguish that booze can cause....gotta go...

I can't stop the rain when it pours, I still get wet but life goes on....drink doesn't make it any better....we just get into the habit of believing it does.

    take care everyone...

Drinking can make you feel a whole lot better sometimes! I agree that it won't solve any long term problems though.

I've had a whole week without beer so I'm just enjoying a beer now.
I actually felt quite high after one beer. I've made it last ages too.

BTW, I have no intention of totally giving up. I just want to manage consumption levels a bit better.
    Happy chappy

    Well good morning all :)

Ended up going out last night and got completely bladdered but I had a really good night, paying for it this morning ;)

Today is definately day 1, my body can not take more alcohol today after overloading it last night.

Plus I was thinking, as it's half term my routine will change this week and I won't have the driving home from work trigger, so I thought I'll have 2 diazepam today, one at lunch time and one this evening. Doc said to have 3 a day as required but I don't need one in the morning. The thought of drinking right now makes me feel sick anyway, I really don't want to feel hungover all day but maybe if that puts me off drinking then it's a good thing!

Hope everyone has a great bank holiday weekend, my internet is up and running so hopefully I shall be around quite a bit. I might need the support!

Hi all, haven't really posted lately since my drunken debacle last week but have been quietly consuming copious amounts of water...so this is day 6 of no alcohol. I have a few social occasions coming up over the next few weeks, but have told my friends I'm no longer drinking alcohol and shamefacedly admitted I can't control myself when I do; they have all been supportive - in fact, one of them said she'll stay off it too! So, am feeling much better at the moment. Hope you all have a lovely weekend, I'll log in on Monday. Jlynncsf.
