Just wondering - can anyone recommend any yummy non-alcoholic drinks that are out of the ordinary? Not just squash or coke? I've been eyeing up the Whittards Fruit Squashes, and I do like Sainsburys fizzy mango and peach.... x
Pomegranite juice..............toped up with fizzy water.................and lots of ice. It's a dry drink, so a bit more palatable for me as I don't like sweet drinks. Aldi's do a cheap pomegranite fresh juice for under a pound.
Good luck and keep posting. Nice to hear from you.0 -
Just popping in to send hugs to those that need them! Sipping my no alch beer & chose that (after an emotional day) over wine so all good there. Day 0 !
Just had a single solitary beer
Been on a course for a couple of days 55 miles each way - got home tonight and fancied one.
Her indoors went to tescos and got a bottle of wine for her and a Cobra beer for me ....... whoops. Start again Andy!!!!!
However. Mental note BHB.........- Did not enjoy at all ....don't know why I even drank it
- Would much rather of had fizzy water and a slice of lemon ...in retrospect
- didn't like mrs BHB's wine at all .....tried a sip
- now feeling a plonker
- feel dizzy
- have a headache ...instantly almost
- DON'T DO IT AGAIN!

Please don't be harsh on yourself. You've done brilliantly.................okay, so you've tried a drink................but you didn't enjoy it, didn't even want it.........................and even more importantly you didn't have any more. Well done.....................you're in control.......................so get back to day squillion and one (or whatever it was) and maybe just reference it in your siggy.
Take care now x0 -

In golf we sometimes play a mulligan. For those not familiar with Golf if you play a cr**py shot the,if playing a friendly round(very important that bit),Then we all forget about it and let you have another one.
i officially give you a Mulligan. If that had happened to me I think I would still be drinking now :rotfl: :rotfl: .
Chin up and enjoy your headache
(Took me ages to find this quote from YM)
Oh Dear BHB.
Dont feel too downhearted. Cant you just have a Mulligan and buy us all an OJ.Its a shame to go all the way back to Day 1 when you were doing so well on Day 47 just for the sake of one drink which you didnt even enjoy.
Come on back on the wagon where you were.I want to stay 10 days behind you ,not 38 in front;)
Well done everyone else for trying!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not really what you want to hear but it's the thought that counts.
Viewed positively, this is a show of strength and triumph over temptation...having one is just hard work!...I doubt those feeling guilty will see it that way but you can't undo it so move on...re-setting the clock is just confirming the punishment...the prize is a day sober and the next....not a points accumulation....yes I'm pleased I've not drunk since last June but the days aren't relevant in that way...I hope to not drink tomorrow. Yesterday is gone, tomorrow is beyond me and unknown and just focusing on today is enough.
I've met people who can't remember how long they've been stopped - some were over 20 years....I guess they don't count the days anymore...and some have stepped off the wagon more than once....it's where we are now and what we do next that matters......
For what I've done...I start again...And whatever pain may come ...Today this ends... I'm forgiving what I've done -AF since June 20070 -

SamanthaA Hope life is a bit more settled for you...........welcome back. It was interesting to hear how you got on with the Allen Carr book. I'm kinda feeling I won't go back to drinking..................but guess you felt the same way to.....................I am a bit concerned that these lovely feelings I have of not wanting a drink will fizzle up and I'll be left exposed and wanting!! I like the way you count the alcohol free days in a month
Thanks for the words.
For me the not wanting is still there, its the will power not to open the first one. Alan C says that willpower is not required, but it is. The boredom/stress factor isn`t included. The books aimed at those who drink for the wrong reasons (not that I`m saying boredom/stress are RIGHT reasons, but you get the idea.)
I wrote in my copy the day I brought it, the date of my last drink & I must have lasted 5/6 months, complacency/friends got me again.
I think that instead of fighting the drink thing on Friday/ Saturday night, I may scare it away! Get the book out & try again!

Morning All,
:o
Thanks Guys....
New approach needed I think .... to quote Bismark :
"I hope to not drink tomorrow. Yesterday is gone, tomorrow is beyond me and unknown and just focusing on today is enough."
Thank you Bismark - I like the approach. !
I just think that having my first counseling session that was scheduled for this morning canceled again for the 5th time !!!!! weakened the resolve and brought in the "sod it" factor yesterday.
Anyway - not feeling too bad about it this morning - just a little bit annoyed, but hey - today is a new day!
Another mental note:
- scary how strong the beer tasted at 5% ...seemed like whisky!
- Didn't sleep well - even having just the one -
- Was up all night drinking water and "pee-ing over 9 hedges" as they say in suffolk!
- GET MORE FIZZY WATER IN AND SOME LEMONS!!!!!!!!
- Throw the counseling attempt into touch completely as its causing me more stress than its worth
- Give the wife a good talking too
- Look for a new slogan for my siggy. :rotfl:
