    morning all
remember a few days ago I said I was going to take ds's lager out of fridge and stash it in the garage, well I didn't, I left it as I thought if I really want to drink I will no matter where the drink is, ie fridge, garage, offy or pub. So the lagers in the fridge I'm on day 5 ds cant believe his lagers still intact and I feel good, well done everyone and have a nice clear day

    Mollypolly.

    You deserve a medal.

I would have found it very hard if Mrs B was still drinking - especially so if she was drinking a lot. To get as far as you have done is brilliant as it doesn't sound like you're getting a lot of support at home.

Howdy pardners, hope everyone's feeling well. Still no drink consumed (day 11), and really not bothered, amazingly enough.

Jo the dry drunk comment resonated with me, having stopped drinking several times before I was definitely miserable, but this time I feel ..well, indifferent. Don't know what the difference is this time. BTW, good luck with the diazepam, I've heard it does help if taken for a short period.

    good for you....

I used to stop drinking for a short period, maybe it was just to show I could - but I often put unrealistic expectations on it....for ever is a long time so it took some people who knew more about it to make the point that for ever is a long time and can cause resentment and all kinds of "finality issues"....just thinking about not having one drink today made it so much easier!

Then not drinking becomes a habit that feeds itself and you just get more used to it....;)

Me too, Molly..... Mrs still not on the wagon, hence........

    Stats this week

    Mon - 1 can
    tue - 2 cans
Wed - 1 can (that included meeting Mrs at pub - drank orange!!!)

It's a vast improvement for me, but still not really hitting my target....

Hope everyone is well this morning :T :T

Day 9 for me today, I went to the offy yesterday for the leccy but ran in and out before I had time to think about it! I've saved £32 so far! Well, when I say saved, I actually mean not spent, definately not saved cos I've no idea where I got the beer money from in the first place.

hope you don't mind me digging this up....

when I was approaching bottom (it was within sight), Mrs B asked me where we getting the money from for the drink...at the time, and indicative of my mental approach, was a feeling of disbelief....I really wasn't thinking about any consequences at all...almost as if they didn't really matter in the scheme of things...my priorities had somehow rearranged themselves from who I really was....

"how did it come to this?" was a question that resonated for months afterwards...

Still here - doing a Lurkey!

Bismark - "How did it come to this?"
Slowly but surely would be my answer - we've just all got to 'Slowly but surely get ourselves out of here. :o .... even if sometimes it is three steps forward and two back .... still means overall its one step nearer. ;)

    Have a great day everyone

my take on the old adage rings true..."you can't spend ages getting somewhere you don't want to be and expect to be airlifted out..."

when I stopped, the scariest thing wasn't stopping in itself...it was dealing with the aftermath and being sober while I did it.....

Yes, I agree, forever is a long time - I'm just not really thinking about it, but if I do it's "well, today I won't drink any wine". Seems to be working so far! Day 12.
