    I think I need this.

My DS hates me drinking around him, I can see why, he`s had some `nasty`,for him, experiences of me falling asleep on sofa & not waking up when he needs me, etc.... Also my dad died of alchol related desease - not true cirrosis, but close & DS knows this.

we currently have a deal whereby he eats no chocolate & I do not drink around each other.
My main problem is that as a single mum, I am happy to drink on my own or in company. And its the drinking on my own thats the problem.
When out with mates, they either hardly drink - so niether do I.
Or other mates drink lots & I try NOT to keep up!

I need help during the week & those weekends that I am on my own.
I want to stop drinking on my own, or with my DS.
I dont drink with the drinkers that often, as I work 7 days & I hate working with a hangover.

    Any suggestions??

    Morning Samantha and welcome

Have you tried stopping drinking before? Do you think you might have a problem abstaining? Sometimes it's better to stop completely than just abstain at home, depends on your self control. Good luck and keep us updated :)

    Thanks Winebox, YM and Jo.

Have done all the appropriate stuff with national debtline, its just frustrating when it got this far without me knowing about it, especially when we could have nipped it in the bud quite easily.

Anyway what is done is done, I love Mrs BHB to bits so guess I will just have to put up with the hassle and her ! ;):D

We are off to court in a while to try and get the warrant suspended to stop the bailiffs coming an to apply for a lower repayment that we can actually afford on the ccj.

Just got to wait for the 2nd debt to have a hearing & judgment and hope that the creditors will settle for a low payment also. Fingers crossed.
We are not wholly convinced about the 3rd larger debt whether it is statute barred or not, they say it isn't but have yet to provide proof. Will do the necessary business later - so hopefully they won't be able to supply the CCA and proof that is is not Statute Barred. Unfortunately Mrs M can't remember exactly. The compay are suggesting that a payment was made just under 6 years ago.... but we shall have to wait and seee what they come up with.

    Anyway - enough ranting.
Really pleased with myself for not caving in even though we had a row and Mrs BHB was in tears, (and again this morning) but we will get through it. She didn't have any wine either!!! :T

New day - suns out. :D

Off to Lidl to get shopping and then the court .... or the other way round.

Somehow we have got to get a £35 court fee 2 birthday presents, animal feed for the week and petrol to go to essex to see Mrs BHB's brother & missus for around £90. Now thats going to be a challange. At least we won't have any money to buy alcohol hey? ;)

Anyway - hope everyone else is having a better time.

    Welcome Samantha - good luck.

    Best Wishes
    BHB (Slightly Happier)

Just remember that you must not acknowledge the debt in any way!

I hope your day improves :)

winebox, have a lovely few days break, good luck for cutting down. Your !!!!!! star name made me laugh, Rusty Love lol, doesn't sound like a very good !!!!!! star :rotfl:

Day 12 today, been a tough couple of days and now I've got the weekend to contend with plus as it's Friday OH is probably going out which means I've got control of the remote(s), so it's gonna be a nightmare! I'll probably be sat on here all night long! :)

Thanks Jo, hope your weekend goes as you wish. A few on here having a difficult weekend coming up it seems. Sorry I'm not about this evening esp as you've been there for me. I think / hope I will be OK seem to have finally got in the right "mindset" - usually can't wait to arrive & abandon car in order to get started on the wine but don't feel that way right now (OK, only 10am!!) - have rationed the wine, got soda to dilute it (a first), have packed diet cokes (another first) & books to read (ANOTHER first!). I am going to print last couple of pages of this to take with me for support!! I really really want to be back on here Mon eve, cup of tea in hand (on my own again!), proud to say I did it.

BHB hope your troubles lessen as time passes & don't run out of petrol on way to Essex!

Samantha you sound in same boat as me wanting to not drink on yr own - Jo is right it might be easier to stop altogether esp if you don't have that much when out. That's too much for me to contemplate, can't stand thought of nothing, so am trying to not drink on my own (my biggest problem) & CONTROL it when not, but am only on day 2 so in NO POSITION to comment!!

Oh dear weekends are supposed to be fum but this one seems to be pressure. Good luck all.;)

My original goal when I quit in 2006 was to stop at home and just drink when I went out which was literally once every 3 months or even longer. I didn't drink for 4 months and then went to a party and decided I was going to drink. I did and was fairly good, didn't get drunk and was well pleased with myself for the next 7 days as I didn't drink indoors and after that first week thought I was actually 'normal'. As it was coming up to xmas there was quite a few do's to go to, I ended up drinking at all of them and then it crept back in at home, no surprise really, I didn't give myself a chance by keeping up the outside drinking.

Oh. Can't think of what to say to that; you were doing SO WELL! I may yet end up having to go same route & stop altogether  for the time being I am just keen to drink much less overall. Am with OH virtually every weekend & prob another evening would see a friend so am talking about drinking 3 nights a week sensibly instead of 7 nights a week stupidly. But we shall see......am sobered (ouch bad pun) by your testimony.
