I would just point out that you can cook smaller amounts in a large one but not larger amounts in a small one...Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan

Designed to run at 230-240, has auto and is 4 litre capacity.http://www.qvcuk.com/ukqic/qvcapp.aspx/app.detail/params.item.829140/walk.yah.UKHG-UK14
there is a video presentation , which I am just about to watch! Mother is addicted to qvc,
By the way, i just wanted to comment on this specific slow cooker i have. Its absolutely great . Sausages braised in cider and grain mustard, and chicken caserole all from the recipe book you get with it. Great size too . I used 4 chicken breasts, 4 bacon, 2 leeks onions and carrots , tinned toms, thyme, and threw in some peas for good measure, and it was gorgeous. I cooked the chicken from 3 to 10 and i really am so impressed at how tender it leaves the meat. I keep finding myself in the kitchen watching it bubble away. This could become obsessive. Tomorrow tagine and im debating putting some soup on now after reading the soup thread and being excited at having the ingreduents to make leek soup.:j
The crock pot comes out and cleans very very well too. ten out of ten.A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

OK, so Ive done some googling, and think ive found the right slow cooker...has a dishwasher proof dish, (but not hob proof) low wattage (160) and has a digital timer. However it is unclear if the pot is oven proof.

Quick question
Heat controls are high, low and auto, (but no medium) is it a problem that there is no 'medium' heat option?
Ive also just bought a slow cooker book
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Making-Most-Your-Slow-Cooker/dp/1844762300/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1234102185&sr=8-1
The book is good as it goes through slow cooker techniques, cuts of meat to use (eg braising, pot roasting, poaching) and then also has specific recipes. However sometimes it just says 'cook for 5 hours' but doesnt say if its on low, medium, high or auto!!
......so now Ive got confused again!
Has anyone got this model, do you also put it in the oven, and can anyone advise about the cooking settings?
Thank you0 -
I have this one at the moment. But im really close to chucking it out the window to be honest.

It doesnt seem to heat up properly anymore, and I left it on low last night, and food was cold at the centre. I shouldnt complain, as it was given to me for free
This is the one I really want. My mum and Mum in law has this one, and its great. I did see them cheaper £29.99 on the Marshall Ward website, but not there anymore (now I have the money to buy it)

This is not the same question, but I need your opinions please!
I was thinking of buying a slow cooker in March/April but by then it will be almost summer. Is it worth waiting another 6 months and getting it for Autumn ?GC March Wk1 £28.72/£30 Wk2 £28.4/£29

Most comments you see are not really directed at the actual make of crock pot (because there is nothing really that can go wrong with them they are so simple) but the actual 'crock pot way of cooking'.
I'm sure all of the above will do an excellent job so it comes down to appearance and size. All have a removable container that you can take to the table - so no real difference there. The 3.5L size, which they all are, is well able to deal with 4 people but doesn't make any allowance for dinner party's etc.
If you are sticking with the 3.5L then I would go for the cheapest.I'm Glad to be here... At my age I'm glad to be anywhere!!
I'm not losing my hair... I'm getting more head!!0
