Thanks
I think I will go with the 5l cooking area one.
It says in the instructions not to cook a whole chicken though due to food standards etc and its got me a little worried now :cool:0 -
Do you think the 4-in-1 slow cookers are any good? http://slow-cooker.org.uk
I havent got one but if the comments on the Amazon Website are anything to go by they seem to be very good. I cook rice in a steamer and it cooks beautifully so I imagine this would be similar.
We are advised to eat more porridge to lower our cholesteral level and I know that I would eat more of it (with some raisins thrown in for sweetness) if it didn't take so long... this seems an excellent way of cooking it. Put it into the pot, switch it on and come back later when it is readyI'm Glad to be here... At my age I'm glad to be anywhere!!

Hi
I have a Crock-Pot Saute Model, they are the best in my opinion as you can take out the drum and use it on the stove, in the oven, put it in the dishwasher and also store it in the fridge!
Their is a good page of information on this link http://www.mealsavers.co.uk/main/?page_id=2124
and some great information on products on this link http://www.mealsavers.co.uk/main/?page_id=2136

Well my Morphy Richards 6.5 litre is no more. I was washing it in the sink yesterday after cooking a lovely (if I say so myself) beef casserole when I noticed it was seriously cracked. I've only had it for about 18 months!
Anyway, I am now looking to get a new one of a similar size. One thing I do know is that I won't be buying the same model. I was never truly happy with this slow cooker. I felt that even on the low setting it just got too hot, to quickly. There was no way I could leave things in it all day without finding whatever it was rapidly bubbling and stuck to the sides.
I know that other people have experienced this too. I do have an older smaller Morphy Richards slow cooker and it's great. I can leave stuff in there for ages without it getting overcooked.
So I am looking for a new large slow cooker that actually cooks slow! Any recommendations?
Oh, the Beef Casserole was so easy. I used a pack of diced stewing beef (reduced from Sainsburys) a bag of frozen casserole veg and an extra onion.
Chopped onion and fried it off with a bit of garlic and one chili and chucked in bottom of slow cooker, the poured the still frozen veg on top. Covered beef in flour and fried that off to brown it (do I really need to do this?) and added that on top of the veg. Poured over a can of tomatoes and made up about 2 pints of stock with oxo cubes and added that.
About half way through cooking I added chopped mushrooms.
ABout an hour before the end I chucked in a few handfuls of lentils to thicken it up.

I have both the MR 6.5L and the smaller version of the same thing, and don't find any difference between them in terms of temperature. Maybe you could phone MR and ask them about it? I know you're not the only one to mention this problem, but that might make MR more willing to do something for you rather than less.0

I have found Morphy Richards to have the best customer services of any company I have contacted so far.
Our vacuum broke just outside its warranty and they still replaced it free of charge with a brand new one and paid courier charges to deliver it and collect the old one.
I would ring them first and speak to them about a replacement pot and whether it ought to get that hot that quickly. Say you're disappointed it's only lasted 18 months when you were so pleased with your other MR product.
Also - some MR products have a 2 year warranty - so CHECK!All goods supplied by us are warranted free from defects for the period stated on the product packaging (which in the case of most of our products is 24 months) from the date of supply. This warranty does not affect your statutory rights as a consumer. The Morphy Richards provides a 2 year warranty for its 48715 electrical slow cooker and if any fault found the relevant authority can be notified with the product model and serial number.
I did notice when buying our 3.5l MR that the larger one had a much higher wattage - which might be why it gets so hot?working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
I have just ordered a Crock Pot 3.5l slow cooker from JL. I see Argos have a 6.5l one http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/4227597/Trail/searchtext%3ESLOW+COOKER.htm
I have been reading up about slow cookers & Crock Pot seems to come out well in review's.

I think it depends on the quantity of food and liquid you have in the cooker. That is why the smaller MR slow cooker probably worked for you.'You can't change the past, you can only change the future' Gary Boulet.

I was so annoyed with the dam thing I ended up chucking it in the bin!!
I feel a bit stupid now! I might go and see if I can fish it out and call MR....0
