Definitely the Morphy Richards. Go for the larger 6.5l version and freeze your surplus if you're making stews, bolognese etc. because there's not a lot you can make in a slow cooker that can't be frozen :-) The 6.5l is big enough to cook a leg of lamb so it's really flexible.

I love mine, I spent a lot of time researching which make and model to get and was very tempted by ones which claimed to cook 2 separate dishes at the time etc - but when you read the reviews you find that the others are not recommended anywhere near as often.

The large modern ones seem operate at a higher rate of heat than than the old type crock pot ones.

In my experience (I've had 3 and used my mum's and friends' ones as well), backed up by the reviews I've checked, this seems to be a problem with certain brands... go for the Morphy Richards 48730!

  • I was in Asda tonight and noticed they had a 6.5litre Morphy RIchards slow cooker for £25. I didn't see the model number but looks similar to the one posted above
    Might be worth a look
  • Wow, thanks everybody - loved the QVC vid, never thought to look there, but decided to go with the Prestige, only cos not sure between 4.5l and 6.5l. Even though family of 4, i'm the only veggie so hopefully smaller 1 ok.
