Once I take some food out of mine any liquid left on the side (and there always is some) will bake on because the pot stays so hot for such a long time.

For food saftey reasons you should take extra food out of the cooker as soon as possible and place it in another dish/basin to allow it to cool as quickly as possible. then put it in the fridge or freezer.

You can put your pot into soak then. My favourite implement for cleaning my slow cooker pot is an old credit card. They make absolutely great non-scratch scrapers :)

i have now got to send my second slowcooker back. have posted a while back about the first one, since then got a 6.5 ltre mr and having same problems. cooked on slow, steam bubbles out one side of lid. tryed cooking on high , found pool of water on work surface. cooker only half full both times.no one else seems to be having this problem.or do they.
  • the food is baked on all over where the food is, inc the bottom, I use it on Low temp, and i also get water spitting out of the edge of the lid

Mine spits a bit on high, though it's not the same make as yours - it's building up a head of steam sufficiently strong to lift the lid and spits a drop of the water off the rim as it escapes.

Nothing like as bad as the problem you seem to have though. Even the low setting cooks faster than I like.

I much preferred my old Tower one - it was much more sedate.

Oh dear. That does certainly sound as though it's getting too hot.

who has the Cookworks slow cooker, now £9.99 at argos???

I read all these posts saying that you dont have to look after your food, doesnt stick or burn etc??

but i've used my SC 3 times this week, and i get a coating of food stuck all around. do you think my unit is faulty? is it worth exchanging it?

I bought the Cookworks SC yesterday for £9.99. I used it today and it worked no problem at all. I got the occassional spitting from the lid but that was only on high. I didnt get any pooling of liquid on my worktop. My husband cleaned it after using it and never said anything was stuck to the sides of the pot.

I generally only cook with mine on low - but really, you ought to be able to cook with yours on high without it leaving puddles everywhere. Seems to me that if it does it is unfit for the purpose for which it is sold. Not that my thoughts on the matter will hold any sway here.

Perhaps you could write to the company and explain each of the problems you are experiencing and also your concerns about leaving it unattended etc...

..I don't recall seeing any other posts about MR slow cookers behaving like this, so you must have some grounds for returning it I reckon.

  • I have the MR one and it doesn't spit, blow bubbles or hiss steam. It sits quite sedately on my worktop on whatever setting and works away quite merrily. So I really think you should return yours ASAP as it sounds like a fault.

My MR slow cooker spits a bit when on high. I try to keep it medium or low. I put tea towels around base if I leave it and go out. Mops up any drips.

I don't think the lids fit as tight as they should and steam gets out.

I got rid of my little Tower one and now wish I hadn't. It was ideal for rice pudding etc. This MR is too big for things like that.
