Beware of E4B contract

  • Suppliers have been alienating brokers since deregulaltion so thats nothing new. If a supplier decides to outsource to India and keep things in house then thats their look out.

They know they will lose business without the brokers and have been doing since the price increases.

It's inevitable that another supplier may come in for E4B at some point in the future. Weather they decide to sell is up to them.

Thieve been hawking there portfolio out to buyers for a long time ( allegedly)
One of the big six laughed at them and said why would we buy you , we will wait for you to go tits up and get your customers by default ( allegedly)
  • I'd be surprised if it happened. ED were very successful and bought out for a large sum. And E4B are like a tighter slicker operation than ED were.

The only reason that they would go under is if customers stopped paying them or if they stopped collecting money (a la Atlantic in the pre Southern days)

It is the same group who where behind ED as E4B , even the contract pads were the same, its a shame that many E4B customers have found the hard way there is a big difference between price and cost.

Im not going to comment anymore for legal reasons
    but i wouldn't mislead you

E4B are the only utility supplier I know you charge their customers 50p a minute for the privilege of calling them. They have had some very bad media coverage of late and IMO they deserve it.
They have also alienated a large percentage of the broker/tpi market lately and I don't see how they can continue much longer.

There is a freephone no. that I posted a while ago to avoid the 50p/minute charge......

I think that considering the amount of disatisfied customers out there, this is probably as much of a money spinner for them as the ridiculously hiked prices in their second year rollovers. I know from experience that you are kept on these lines for ages trying to sort things out. At 50p/minute, phone calls to them can soon add up to £10 or more.

Got to say i am disgusted by there renewal rates and by the manor with which they are catching people out . I think everyone should think long and hard before awarding them any business.
  • Whilst E4B's renewal prices arent competetive with new contracts available the renewal prices themselves are signifcantly better than those offered in most instances by the likes of British Gas Business (I saw 32p pkwh for elec and 6.6p for gas on Friday) Scottish and Southern, Scottish Power and a number of other suppliers.

I am sure the MSE members prefer a balanced opinion based on fact rather than just a blatant dig at E4B (even though thats what this thread is for)

You may call it a blatant dig, but it is a fact that my 2nd year price went up by a ridiculous amount. I am hardly going to say that by the way, various other suppliers have put theirs up by an even more ridiculous amount aswell!? Do you want me to go on the other threads moaning about them just to even things up?
I think you are losing sight of the main point of this thread. It is to highlight to potential new customers of E4B the various pitfalls associated with being a customer of theirs.
So just so there can be no confusion I will highlight them again.........

!. A very shady 7 day deadline in their smallprint.

    2. RIDICULOUSLY hiked prices once you get trapped in their 2 year rollover contract.

    3. When you phone to complain about 1 and 2, you get charged a small fortune for your trouble.

My brother had this problem with E4B he used a broker from www.switchit4u.biz they sorted sorted it out, they where well on the ball :T

Thanks for the useful advice. This is what we need more of on this thread. Trying to defend peoples gripes against E4B is not what this is all about. That is unless you really are an employee of E4B?
