OK guys you've got me hooked on these hobnobs. Where's the recipe. Won't be able to do them today as I'll have to get some ingredients in but would love to know what's in them.

Wendy you didn't fail yesterday, look at what you did do not what you didn't get around to doing. As for the car boot sale, hey, there's always another one.
  • Guess what I decided as I was typing my reply to ISOM that I was going to do it anyway! Got there at 9.45 ish after bunging everything including two kids in the car and stayed to 12. Made £31 but spent £6 so £25 profit for three hours work. May get a £30 sale of tv and stand if the lady rings this week so fingers crossed.

OH mad at me though cause I forgot to leave a note.

  • Twinks Hobnobs

    8oz S/R flour
    8oz caster suger
8oz porridge oats (i use Tesco value)

    Mix together in large bowl

Melt 8oz butter, 1 tablespoon of golden syrup and 1 tablespoon of hot water. When melted add 1/2 teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda.

Mix wet ingreadients in with dry then shape into ball shapes on a baking tray. flatten slighty. I do golf ball size for chewy biscuits.

Cook for 10-15 minutes at 180 or gas mark 4 until golden (not brown)

    Mixture can be frozen.

Thanks Wendy, I'll give them a go once I've been shopping.

Well done on the car boot sale, every little helps. I'm getting things togetherready to do one but whether I'll actually get round to it is another thing.
  • Ive got all the stuff in boxes and a few bags now kept behind the bedroom door. Just load up and see what goes. I add to the pile when I spot something in the house or like yesterday get around to sorting through clothes.

If you got stuff together just give it a go. I was going to label things but didnt bother in the end (one of the things I was going to do yesterday) it doesnt seem to make a difference.

  • Yearly budgets -

Xmas Savings Club:£100 (£400 saved already)
    Car Tax yearly: £180
    MOT & Service yearly: £150
    Repairs yearly budget: £300
    Birthdays yearly budget:£300
Holidays £766 - may need to be revised
Car Insurance £500 guestimate looked online and should get it for at least 500 rather then 600 - (OH new driver and me bump prone :o )
Hairdressers £40 for all £40 spent already
Clothes £100 lost count on total spent but at least 100
    RAC £0 tesco vouchers

Total £2436 savings c900 less any overspends as at end of May

1536/7 = c220 a month to save from june (may payday) onwards therefore need to increase savings pot by this each month less any spends that come out. Already saving £100 through xmas club so will keep doing that over the 500 budget although the car stuff may well change if the new car works out as monies will be spent this month instead of year end and then covered by sale of other car hopefully resulting in a big fat overpayment.

Have £30 + in purse and want to avid taking any monies out of account this month. It will eat into the £900 savings.

  • Well three out of four complete still have some work to do.

Tax credit people have completly confused me. Apparently since I rang up the other day I now qualify for 70 a week!? I have upped my figure today by a grand as miscalculated OH income but that shouldnt make a big difference.

The thing is due to a new job and payrise I am earning a few thousand more than last year so how come its gone up not down??

I think Ill just have to wait for the year end declaration and paperwork to come through. Im so impatient though. I hope it is closer to 70 than the 25 I was budgeting for.

I have worked out that if I can get a 1.5k profit from the car and overpay the loan by £75 a month I can be debt free by 35 a whole two years ahead of my current date. I cant budget for this yet until my tax credits have been finalised though. Still think it will be lower but I can hope!
