TSC Credit Management letter - VIRGIN MEDIA T&C

Options
i have just had a Final Notice letter through from TSC Credit Management informing me that i owe money and the creditor it names is Virgin Media T&C.

i have had two separate letters through with two different account numbers on. the first letter says i owe them £97 and the second letter says i owe £31

i have never been with virginmedia, the only thing i can think of is that i was with NTL about 4 years ago! at a different address but i was told over the phone that the bills had all been settled and i could disregard any other bill that came in, and no other bills ever did come through, i never received a final confirmation letter from NTL.

what is going on here? surely i am not liable for this as when i was with NTL i was assured that the bill etc was settled and i owed them nothing. assuming that is what is happening.

HELP??!!??

You need to ask that in another part of the forum for a better responce.

    Mods may move it anyway.

But as a first line of action DO NOT admit to owing any money and DO NOT send any money until you have had advice.

Was the dept over 6 years ago?

If it was my guess is you will not have to pay it unless it was a court order.

But I am no expert on this but others here know far more than me, but they may not visit this part of the forum.

Try asking over on this part of MSE:

    Oh, and welcome to MSE.

Also have a look at these threads:

And if you need chearing up and would like a laugh read this thread on how another person responded to another agency, I am not saying for you to do this just to get a laugh:

We have received the exact same letter which we found when we got back today after a couple of days away. Same situation really, haven't had any Virgin Media services and although we have had NTL this is from about 4 plus years ago and as far as we know is all clear. Did you get opportunity to ring the number on the letter at all yesterday?

    Dont do it.

Get some advice first, phoning up lets them know you exist it could be a scam.

well i tried to phone yesterday between 10am and 2pm as stated on the letter but i just got an engaged tone then it said if i wanted to use ringback press 5. i didn't do that i just hung up so i emailed them instead and awaiting a reply. will give them a call tomorrow.

like i say i was with NTL around 3-4 years back but never VirginMedia.

could this be a scam any ideas or is it legit??

MODS - are you able to move this to the correct part of the forum???

Just remember do not acknowledge any dept and do not let them have any money untill you have advice.

ok who is the best people to get advice from if they do say that i have to pay??
  • Because we only saw the letter today we decided to ring Virgin Media directly as they are the apparent Creditors. They have no record of the customer number, my husbands name (he called them), any services at our address or anything that could identify this 'outstanding' debt.
He is all up for ringing TSC tomorrow however I have advised him to hold back and we will write in the first instance. I want proof of this so-called debt. JUst seems a little fishy to me but TSC are a proper company it would seem.

Just ask in that other thread I posted.
    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.html?f=76

There may be a better one, but like I said I am not an expert on that here but I do know this is not the best thread for that advice unless someone who does know comes across it.

I am sure if this was going to be moved it would have been by now.

They may well be, but they could still be trying it on.

SPOT that doesn't surprise me to be honest to me it feels this could be a Scam, maybe a company using another legitimate name??

i will get on to virginmedia tomorrow instead of TSC to see if they say the same about me.

as like i said surely a company requesting people to call to settle bills would have a proper phone service not be engaged (like a home telephone) asking to use ringback??!!

is this a case for television i.e. watchdog??

    You could also try:

This site and those work together on some issues.

And surprise, surprise they have a thread running on these people:
