TSC Credit Management letter - VIRGIN MEDIA T&C
Comments
-
I recieved a letter this morning regarding an outstanding debt with Virgin Media T&C. £29.62. I hate to owe anyone anything, and looking at the headed paper I was sure it was a legit company. I then rang the number and got an engaged tone... What kind of large business doesn't have a holding facility?!
After this I had my doubts, came on here this morning and had a poke around at TSC. Noticed there are lots of others in the same boat as me!
Best action to take by far is ringing VirginMedia, I spoke to a good guy and I raised my concerns about this company and found out I owed the money from an account I didn't close 4 1/2 years ago. I paid VirginMedia direct, I wouldn't bother dealing with TSC... Sending me a final notice when I havent recieved any notices beforehand, stating on the letter that "This can no longer be regarded as just an oversight on your part" And then theatening me with a doorstep collection...0 -
I received a letter this week as well and now cant get throught to the number on the letter.Tried Friday and today.
I can only think it relates to NTL, but I do have a letter from NTL dated Sept 2006 saying we do not owe them any money.
Any ideas on the best way to handle this?
How many people will just pay up?0 -
Seems very odd all these people getting letters at the same time.0

I also got the letter on Saturday for a small amount of £26.12. I have never heard of them or Virgin Media. I spoke to CAB and they reckon quite a lot of people are getting these threatening letters at the moment. My sister appears to have had one a few months back - she still lives at home! They said most people just pay up but recommended that you write do not phone them under any circumstances, write to them recorded delivery and say you do not recognise the debt and will not accept their threatening letters or behaviour. I have done this and requested they acknowledge my letter and confirm that they have wiped this from my credit file.0 -
Finally go through to the right people at VirginMedia. As it was NTL I had to call 08000522620.
I got the impression they were having loads of these calls and I am just thankful we kept the original letter that says we do not owe them any money on the account.
Not everyone will have this evidence and it does not bear thinking about the stress and hurt these letters will cause some people.
I have been advised to send a copy of the letter direct to VirginMedia.
Should I just let this go or make a fuss for chasing me for a debt I obviously do not have?0 -
I think they have to prove you owe the money and you can ask for the proof by paying a small sum of money.
BUT, you need to get advice or they may take the small payment as being part of the debt repayment and then you have acknowledge the debt and you don't want to do that.0 -
My husband is trying to get through to Virgin Media again to clarify if it could be related to the old NTL account we had. However that account was closed and they ended up refunding us money so how we would owe them I have no idea. I'm trying to find 'supporting documentation' at the moment but as we have moves many times and I have been housekeeping the paperwork I am not sure we will still have it. (I stupidly assumed that once an account is closed, and has been for over 2 years that we would no longer require the original paperwork!) Maybe I should go back to being super hoarder!0

Superpig, I know I dont owe them anything, so after speaking to CAB I am sending them a letter to that effect, also advising if they continue harrassment I will be counter suing them for stress, distress, money for postage etc.0

Why should just quoting them their letter's date and reference number(s) not meet their need?Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Looks like we are victims of ID theft. Someone has set up an account with my husbands details in Mar 06 however we moved out of the address in question in Apr/May 04. Bloody junk mail! They wouldn't have got his name if virgin media didn't send it out! We had a direction in place for a year too.
So the debt is valid, but not my our making it would seem. He is still on the phone to Virgin Media to try to get to the bottom of it and raise that it is ID fraud.
Great - this is all we need!0
