  • Don't take this as the norm, as I believe I have been exceedingly lucky in my dealings with them. I have once had a transfer delayed by three days (plus an intervening weekend), so I called the 0808 number and hollered at the hapless guys in India. Demanded to be put thro' to a supervisor, took his name and personal mobile number as a fallback when he said he'd get somebody from the branch to call me back. That was on a Saturday, and sure enough, on Monday, I got a call, assuring me that the transfer would be investigated, and the problem got resolved as well.

Visited the branch last week, I must say, the one effect it did have was of reassuring me that they're here to stay - the service may be substandard, but if you're ready to go thro the hassle and park some money there, you can sit back and enjoy the near-unbeatable rate. That is what at least I am decided upon doing - have a bulk of my savings there, and by now, am pally with a bunch of people there, so I think I'm home, so far as my relationship with them is concerned..

  • You visited the branch? Isn't going to Bombay a bit extreme? (JOKE)

Does anyone know, if after having opened my own and my wife's personal HiSave accounts, we were to additionally open a joint account, then would this joint account become a 'linked account' so that, within ICICI, we can move money from the personal accounts to the joint account and vice-versa, without having to wait the 6 to 7 days and with subsequent loss of interest, to go back and forth using our linked current account?

Phew! Must take a breath! :)
  • Anyone had any luck changing the linked current account. Tried to change it to my A+L over 1 week ago using the online form and surprise surprise nothing has happened. Tried to call them today on London no but told all HiSave team in a meeting. Hopefully discussing the compensation package they’re going to offer people who’ve valuable time they have wasted.

BTW whilst waiting for linked account to change (and not doing) transferred large sum of money to B+B instead.
  • This is starting to get silly. I can't seem to get an answer out of ICICI, so I'm asking here. On 1st Aug, my initial cheque for £5 cleared into my account. During Aug I transferred some more money. At the end of the month no interest. Cue the following exchange (Me in blue, them in red)...

My account has been open for longer than a month, yet I have yet to receive any interest. Would you care to explain this?

Three days ago, I sent a message asking why my account has been open longer than a month yet I have yet to receive any interest. This message has gone unanswered. Does anyone plan on replying to me or should I just forget about using ICICI?

.. and this message took 5 days to get a reply. Over a week and I still don't have any answers. What the hell is going on there?

Instead of apologising, how about answering the question I asked well over a week ago, and have yet to receive an answer. Why am I not getting any interest on my savings?
Anyone else had similar problems (with interest that is, not with them being less communicative than a brick wall)?

OK HERE'S A VERY BIG QUESTION:

Has anyone on here actually EVER been rung back by ANYONE at ICICI Bank?

Yes but ONLY from London and when closing my account.
  • Those e-mail replies are EXACTLY the same wording as those I received on a couple of occasions and must automatically bounce back from the brick wall your's hit when you send them. :p
  • No, they never ring back. Frankly, I have had a belly full of them. Their incompetence and woolly systems - both manual and computer - leave me thinking that perhaps their web page is really a front and behind the scenes they are all using abaci !!

Just checked my online mini-statement and found "SV INTERNAL BILL PAY" as a £1 debit to my account. I mean, what on Earth is THAT supposed to mean? I thought for a moment I was going to have to brave their customer services until I remembered I had setup a £1 transfer to my linked account to test its functionality. For one thing it's not internal, and for another, it wasn't a bill.

Edit: Oh yes, I forgot my main point in making this post... I noticed this morning that a rogue direct debit payment for £500 had been attempted to be collected from my current account. The bank had bounced it (not because of insufficient funds, but presumably because the dd had been cancelled). Judging from the ref number, the request seems to have come from ICICI although I certainly never set it up. I will have to do a bit of detective work to find out exactly what happened, but I'm glad ICICI cancel their dd agreements every time you do a transfer.

Edit2: Have now managed to match this transaction with a transfer I made on the 29th July! It seems they never collected the money from my bank. I owe ICICI £500! :rotfl:
