  • Applied and received following message.

    <Thank you for your application.

As per FSA regulations, it is a mandatory requirement to establish the identity of the person before opening an account with the Bank. In your case, we have not been able to get adequate information to verify your identity.

We therefore request you to send us a copy of your current passport or a driving license as part of your identity proof, and a utility bill or a bank statement as part of your address proof. These documents should be attested either by your banker or a solicitor.>

This is despite me already having 2 current a/cs with them!! When I pointed this out they said I wasn't on their database, so I've told them to forget it.

Weird. Have you checked your Experian/Equifax records recently? I didn't get a request for any of that, and I wasn't a prior customer.

  • Joining was fine. First time I signed on to my account with no problem. After that kept getting invalid ID or password. I managed to explain this to the support staff who said it would be put right. Two weeks later still failed. Rang support again who said they will ring back. Still no reply

Tobie, if you are copying it from the orgional email, be sure not to copy an empty space too, as i made that mistake too
  • Still awaiting my password, although I have had my congratulatory e-mail - well two actually - stating that, "You are all set to use your HiSave Account with ICICI Bank UK.
I can't understand why they don't send the password prior to sending the email which states that you can use your account - it just smacks of lack of forward thinking and incompetence. (Maybe, the passwords have to be mailed from India?) I get bad vibes with this shower and I don't think I will be banking with them. If they were an airline - I certainly wouldn't be flying with them!!!
  • Thanks Dave2986. I have tried again making sure the cursor was at the start of the box and nothing after entry. I did get a change of message though. It now says the user is not yet registered! I have had the account for well over a month. Incidently, I have sent four Emails on this subject and never got a reply. I have to say the support staff sound completely untrained except for a few phrases they repeat parrot fashion.

My password came in the post seven days after I got that email - not sure how long you have waited so far. I'm nervous of putting any serious money in it due to the problems i have read about.

  • Yes, pinkflyuffybabe so am I nervous of this bank - that's why I will not, at present, entertain banking with them. I have telephoned them and they have promised to phone me back but their calls have disappeared into the ether - this bank is sending out too many 'red flags' for my liking. I spend enough time being a rate tart without spending extra time and energy worrying that my account is going to be handled efficiently and my cash accountable at at times. As I have already stated, I will not be flying them should they decide to launch out into the airline business!!!!!!!!

I have just logged into my HiSave account and, using their system, sent a Communication to my 'Account Handler'.

The problem is, I must have taken more than 10 minutes to do this. This breached the web site security and therefore I must have been automatically 'logged out'. Importantly, I was not warned about this and I blindly carried on typing my message, being a query about 'If INGDirect can have 'Linked Accounts (plural)', then why cannot HiSave - particularly as the term 'Linked Accounts (plural)' and also obvious facilities for choosing from 'Linked Accounts (plural)', is offered on several of their customer's account operating web pages?'

Now this communication was bit lengthy. I didn't really want to have to do it again and so I had previously checked up that there was a mailbox for the storing of HiSave Sent and Received messages.

Anyhow, I duly and blindly clicked on 'Send'.

I then had to log in once again, which I did, only to find my message had obviously not been sent, neither had it been stored and so I really needed to type it all up again and do so importantly within 10 minutes.

I do not feel inclined to do so.

I have several worries about ICICI bank. I have tied to reassure myself about their honesty and integrity and I felt 7/10 comfortable with that.

With regard to their internet banking system, I was again only 7/10 confident in their systems. (eg, My first transaction is now numbered 'No 3'. If I did another then the first transaction would then be numbered 'No 4', etc, etc. as it dropped down the list. Hmmm? !!!!

I detect signs of an intransigence and an ignorance, as well as an unfamiliarity of modern Internet banking systems, procedures and techniques. They only have their way of doing it and I can't deal with and understand some of their insularity.

I really cannot give these people a serious amount of my funds to manage. If there happened to be a problem, and with their systems there would most definitely be problems, then the biggest and most serious issue is highly likely to be under the heading of 'Communications'

I always get a message box warning me about this. Pressing space would dismiss this box - maybe that's what's happened?

Because "they can't" - see my 'chat' with them about it on post 154
