The ICICI.co.uk web site was a bit slow for me today.
I have already done a trial 'in' transfer. This has left my current account and should show up in the HiSave on Wednesday.
I did a transfer 'out' from the HiSave to my current account 'today' but didn't check whether it had left today. This should show up in my current account on Thursday for sure but could be Wednesday.
Once these transaction thingies have worked OK then I'll stick a wedge in so as to get the higher interest rate.
I noticed when selecting my account to transfer 'out' that, just like ING's, there seems to be a facility to choose which of any linked account one can transfer money out of the HiSave into.
There does seem to be some confusion about this. ICICI talk about 'changing' the linked account, which interprets there can only be ONE.
This has to be utter rubbish really. Obviously, if one were to send a cheque from a separate non-linked current account it would also then become a 'linked account' some 8 days later, sorta kinda just like ING's linked acccount system works.0 -
This thread is turning out to be very interesting, with ICICI taking a lot of stick. As an account holder who has been with them for past 1 year, I would like to confirm that ICICI bank is indeed the largest bank in India, and has seen meteoric growth largely due to benefit of privatisation and modern banking ( which other banks in India are slowly following). The bank is certainly one of the safer bank to bank with, and is likely to continue to grow, unless the economy collapses - very little chance of that happening. ICICI bank has launched similar successful High Interest savings scheme in other countries ( i know of Canada), and this may partly explain why they are not able to cope with the demand. I was however too lazy to open the Hisave A/C with them ( was satisfied with ING), but out of curiosity have just filled in the online form. Will keep you posted.
p.s. I am not related in any way to the bank , or its CE!0 -

Then could you tell me why, whenever they are mentioned on the site is by the phrase "Linked Accounts" instead of "Linked Account"?

Dear Sir/Madam,
Thank you for your mail.
I would like to inform you that You can change your linked account online . All you have to do is to log into your HiSAVE Savings Account, go to the section "Transfer Money" and click on the link "Linked Accounts". In this section you have the option to change your linked account. Fill the details of new "Linked Account" and confirm..

Sadly this does not answer my queries.
My original query was "Can I have *MORE* than one linked account" to which the answer is apparently "No."
I then asked why, wherever it's mentioned, the phrase "Linked Accounts" is used - specifically it implies that more than one account may be linked.

ICICI is one of the leading banks in India but ironically its customer service is terrible. I remember the horrible day when I opened the joint bank account in ICICI in India 4 years ago and later on I found that dad name was spelled wrong on the plastic card. When I contacted customer services they said you have to order the fresh plastic card for which the charge was INR 100.I said look it is a mistake done by your staff in filling the data not by us.But they have got deaf ears which forced me to withdraw all the money and closure of bank account.
In another instance my friend got the loan from the ICICI at NEW DELHI for Motor Bike. But he was shocked that every time ICICI Loan account displays that direct debit(advanced signed cheques in India) for the repayment has been failed and charges was placed on failed direct debit. He is a busy business man so have got no time to check his bank account but when the cheque failed third time he visited the state bank of India regarding the failed direct debits. To his surprise bank told him that ICICI has never placed a direct debit on his account .When he contacted the ICICI they apologised for the errors and promised that in future this will not happen again. For another two months direct debits gone smoothly but he was shocked again when he got the another letter from the ICICI regarding failed direct debit. This time again he checked with his bank and no direct debit was placed. So next day he got the personal loan and paid all the money to ICICI to avoid such inconvenience.
Is your Money safe in ICICI
I don’t think so.One of my friend has got the bank account with ICICI in Jalandhar and he has never been to Bombay. He was shocked to see that 10,000 INR was withdrawn at ICICI Mumbai ATM.He never got his money back and ICICI has refused to refund the money. Such a disgrace to this bank which never cares about the customers money and fraud liability.
Latest Experience in Money transfers to India with ICICI
My friend has ordered a Money transfer to India at the Address of Student Loan account,Co-operative bank Chandigarh,INDIA but these idiots delivered that draft into Delhi branch of Co-operative bank .ICICI was unable to explain why the draft is delivered at Delhi instead of Chandigarh branch. Well they agreed to issue the duplicate draft after a lot of hassle and finally delivered to the correct address and result is that my friend paid the more interest into his student loan account.
In my view ICICI is not safe bank especially if somebody nicks our money by fraud so it is better to avoid such companies. In this busy world who has got the time to argue with the companies about the wrong or fraudulent transaction and all of us expect the bank to act in the good faith of the customer but it seems that this bank aim is to give more hassles to the customers. However if you want to Increase your Blood pressure, tension or invite the trouble then go for ICICI now !0 -
