We are going away with our neighbours in a couple of weeks to their apartment in Sharm el Sheikh. It's only cost us our flights and we've told our friends we will be spending lots of time round the pool as we don't have much to spend!!

Then we have a long weekend in Prague at the end of the month but I won that in a competition run by Grolsch. Flights, hotel, transfers and breakfast included. Hopefully we can have a massive breakfast and not eat much the rest of the day!!

So my tip is enter holiday comps!

do u have family/friends that live away from you?

You could either see if they will put you up for a few days or if they go away themselves you could offer to house-sit for them? Would only cost your travel then.

Or look out for the sun/other papers, magazines holidays for £9 odd. I did that last yr and had 4 nights in lovely caravan in Devon on a Haven site for just £45 when you added in the electricity/gas.

Yes we have some friends in Wales that have a lovely place with enough room to camp but we don't want to be too cheeky if you know what I mean.

Done the Sun holidays before, had a great one in Scotland and a not so great one in Wales.

    Thanks for the suggestions though.

last year we combined days out with days here and there away rather than a 'holiday'

we found a basic camp site for £9 a night middle of august!

we did slog out guts out scrimping months before to get together £600 for a trailer tent and hubby got half a £175 towbar for his birthday.

    have you got kids? ages?
    luv jacs:D

meant could u pm me the deatils of the camp site not triker :)

Well done on winning your trip. I do enter some comps but as yet have had no luck, but like they say, you gotta be in it to win it.
    Will keep trying.

I did supposedly 'win' a holiday years ago but guess what, it was a dodgy timeshare thing.:wall:

I'm reading this thread with much interest. We've not had a family holiday for nearly 8 years :o

Seriously, with camping or Sun holidays I reckon it's totally do-able! Great place for a meet.

My baby sis went on a break last year and only breakfast was included, so they made sure they snaffled rolls, eggs and cold meats from the buffet for lunch! So maybe take some sandwich bags ;)
  • PS we are having a family break (OH's family chose location etc) in a chalet, think it's 70 quid for a long weekend in April, 2 bed and can sleep more in the living room, www.hazelwood.co.uk
