Canvas Republic not delivering or answering

  • I just thought I'd let some people know about the canvas art industry. I work for one of the many companies in the UK who provide canvas art (no I don't work for canvas republic but I have spoken with them) I can't speak for all the companies, but for the one I work for we do suffer from slight set back every now and then.

Wood for example comes from China, and even though they are getting better, their customer service is appealing and there terrible with their dates. This sometimes leaves you in the situation of no wood but lots of orders. We try and take care of this by over ordering when we order.

My advice to anyone looking for a canvas print is to look round a bit and if your a little worried about spending what is (in fairness) a lot of money for some artwork, call the company your considering ordering off and find out how busy they are at that time. If you need it for a certain date, ask if its possible to have it for then.

There are a lot of good companies out there, but for every good one, there are probably half a dozen that aren't. And sadly its just pot luck which you choose.
  • Glad I read this post before buying from Canvas Republic a few days ago. Sounds like a nightmare company to deal with, having difficulty in getting hold of materials is not really a customers problem particularly if they advertise 48 hour service.

I found another store www.artbypeople.co.uk on google. They are having a 50% off sale on all products. I thought this could mean a drop in quality but I have just had the canvases delivered. They look absolutely fantastic on my wall and the triptych only cost me £50 delivered!

That's two canvas art companies to avoid then...
  • Bit concerned to read this.

I ordered a gift voucher from Canvas Republic a week ago. Checking the online tracking I’m told that the order is still being “crafted” and hasn’t been sent. If they can’t even send out a voucher within a week it makes me wonder if there’s any point in carrying on – it’s not going to be a very good present if the goods don’t ever get shipped. I’ve tried calling the phone number but get the same “we’re busy” robot that everyone else is describing.

I paid for the order using my debit card – does anyone know where I stand legally on a refund? Can I get the payment reversed by my bank? I could ask canvasrepublic for a refund but I somehow doubt they are going to respond!

Any advise on my rights would be gratefully received...

Is it definitely more than 7 days since you ordered? if its less than 7 days, you could cancell under distance selling regulations.(think it probably is more from what you said though)
  • It was exactly seven days, and to be fair to canvas republic they replied to my email yesterday saying they would refund my card (although I don't see any evidence of that yet!)

Perhaps I've been a little over cautious in canceling my order, but can't help feeling that a week to "make" a gift voucher is a tad excessive!

    Thanks for your advice,

    Matt
  • Well after waiting over 10 days for my prints I have decided to browse for info about Canvas Republic on any feedback, and low and behold I come here to find them being a bad company to deal with :( I have cancelled my order now because of comments I have read on here and the fact they have ignored my emails.

Also having seen the statment from my bank Only Dreemin UK I am now really concerned.

I wil let you all know how long it takes them to respond or even reply to my email asking for them to cancel.

just an update I recieved an email with ... Sorry about that; We shall refund your card, this should appear in your account within 72hours..

    Lets hope they do :)

    ** EDIT **

Checked my balance in the bank and true to there word they have refunded the amount within the 72 hours as promised. Such a shame that the can take your money then give it you back as quick when all I wanted was the canvas prints and curtious service.

Reasons I would not use this company would be, the fact that if they cannot deliver in time, Christmas or at any other time why state that they can, and absolutely no attempt to apologise for the lack of communication or for the failure to deliver is very poor for a company that bigs itself up to be a fantastic company.
  • Can anybody supply me with a phone no. for Canvass Republic? Like so many other of you, we are experiencing big delay in delivery of our purchase and they don't supply a phone no. on their website. Also 118 118 say they have no listing of them. A bit worrying. Some of you have been in contact with them by phone so I would be grateful for a number please. Thanks.
  • I too have experienced the delays the others have mentioned, i purchased a print so when my print hadn't arrived in the stated time, i was naturally a little concerned.

After sending an e mail and getting a reply to say that it was being dealt with - I found that I could not even track my order as when entering the tracking number this was about 2 weeks out of date.

After 4 weeks of not hearing anything, I sent a blunt message and within two minutes of sending this (on Friday) I received a message back saying that my order had been despatched. My canvas arrived on the Tuesday and it was worth the wait. It is really well made and very good value for money. My advice is be patient and you should receive your canvas just be aware that you are buying something from a company that is not that quick on answering their telephones and that their customer services is not that good !!!!. I ordered my canvas on 3 Feb and it was received on 3 March (a month !!!!)

    Good luck
