Canvas Republic not delivering or answering

  • Having read the posts above, I still went ahead and purchased from canvas republic. I bought a custom made photo on art canvas and a triptych print.

    Feeling smug when the prints arrived in a matter of days, not the months I was anticipating based on the accounts above, I opened the box to find that I was receipt of a product that was far from the quality product advertised on their website.

    The custom print was fine, however, the triptych was not. These prints are essentially one picture or pattern split over 3 canvases to be hung side by side. Logic would therefore suggest that the pattern should line up across the 3 canvases. Unfortunately, the obviously rigorous Quality Control process applied by these artisans is not quite as thorough as is lauded on the website. The patterns on the canvases overlap pretty obviously meaning that they are not suitable to adorn my walls. To me this seems like absolute laziness on their behalf.

    To make matters worse, Canvas Republic now are ignoring my emails and calls to try and get a replacement. When i've invested c£100 on a print I expect better service.

    Avoid this company!!!!!!!!

    A few weeks ago we were looking for a canvas tryptich, we were about to order from Canvas Republic when I came across this thread.

    I changed my mind after reading the above and hunted on line for something else we liked that wasn't going to cost hundreds of pounds. We could not find anything we liked within our budget.

    On Sunday I decided I would take a chance with Canvas Republic, after all we were in no great rush for the product. So I placed my order on Sunday.

    I was extremely pleased and surprised to receive my tryptich canvas today (Tuesday)and more so we are delighted with the product.

    Just thought I would post this positive comment as they certainly exceeded our expectations with their very speedy delivery.

  • right, i thought i was making progress when i finally got a reply from the people's republic of canvas saying that they would replace my print.

    last week i was contacted again saying that, having examined the photos i had sent, there was nothing wrong with the original. after a short discussion, the conclusion of which i believed was me being right (being a customer, one always is.....), the gentleman calling said he would re-examine my photos and call me back. no call was forthcoming.

    the reason for CR reopening the case was stated as the high volume of returns that had been booked in...........draw your own conclusions.

    today (the day originally agreed with CR) i have taken time off work so that parcelforce could come and pick up the old print and deliver the new one. by midday no-one had arrived so i contacted CR through their online chat facility to ask when they were anticipating delivery. i was told that they had not despatched the print as they were awaiting further photos of the problem and that i had already been informed of this. A misrepresentation of the truth to put it politely.......

    i just want what i ordered as opposed to a giant box sitting in my living room waiting to be collected......grrrrrr.

    reasons not to use this company:
    1. terrible customer service, encompassing but probably not limited to:
      • tardiness of dealing with queries
      • difficulty in contacting
      • rudeness when contact made
      • point blank lying to customers
      • inability to apologise
      • reneging on agreements
    2. poor quality and attention to detail
    3. dubious company history outlined in previous posts
  • I very nearly ordered a canvas from CR earlier this year. I am so glad I didn't now reading this thread.

    I then won a competition in Take A Break for a free canvas from canvasrus.co.uk, which was great, I chose a £40 canvas, it arrived within 4 days of my, really well packed, had an e-mail to say it was being despatched and nice people. The canvas was amazing, I chose one of my wedding photos which has huge amounts of colour in and they got all the tones spot on.

    If anyone is wanting a canvas, do try canvasrus, I am not sure how they compare price wise with other sites but I am just about to order another canvas for my nephew's christening.

  • it may have been a long journey but we've finally got there.

    i have now received a print from canvas republic that matches what i ordered and, i have to say, i'm very pleased with it.

    the quality of the prints is good and the delivery time was swift, i just feel that if a little more time and effort could be put into checking what they send out, and into customer service, this could be a very good business. my gut feel is that all the company needs is more staff (who talk to each other) in order to provide a better quality of service.
  • I placed an order with canvas republic on the 3rd of August and a few days later received an email telling me my canvas had dispatched and would be with me in 1-2 days. Almost a week had gone since I received the dispatch email and still no canvas, I was now starting to worry and did a quick google search to see if I could find out anything and low and behold I found this thread. I was now even more worried so I pomptly emailed canvas republic and advised I would be canceling my order if I didn't received my artwork by tomorrow. They replied within a few hours and provided a POD and tracking number,which confirmed it had been delivered yesterday to my office. I checked out the tracking number and I could see from the history that the item had been mis-picked and sent to the depot in Aberdeen instead of Glasgow, hence the delay. I'm glad to say the canvas is now proudly on my living room wall and look great.

    Just thought I'd share this feedback any questions please ask.

    So far I'm finding Canvas Republic's customer service to be great. We ordered a 5-part and the centre panel had a wonky frame and a small inkspot. They replied to emails promptly and sent out a new centre panel without me having to return the original one.

    Likewise, when the replacement arrived and it had a lump on it, I got through to them on the phone quickly and they're sending out another new panel.

    So, 10 out of 10 (so far!) for their CS. Low marks for their QA department though :) .

    EDIT. Follow up: I called them on Friday 5th and the replacement panel arrived Mon 8th. It's great, so very happy with Canvas Republic. Obviously it'd be better if everything was perfect first time, but when you're buying cheaply on the internet that doesn't always happen, even with Amazon. As long as customer support is good, I'm happy.
  • Okay, so I gambled and just put in an order with them 10 minutes ago after reading this thread, I'll let you know how it turns out with them and whether or not I have any of the issues you guys had.

    Thinking of ordering a canvas and they do have some nice ones according to my friend ......any further experiences to report?
