. You can't argue that a vehicle that weighs twice as much as and has twicw the air ressistance as lets say a conventional car, cannot be uneconomical.
Please read what I said, In my view 4x4s are paying for it so fair do,s
So let's have a 'go' at big people carriers too then!0 -

How come, bigger the people carrier, smaller the child?

To get back to the subject in hand:-
All the talk about "congestion charge" (which has suddenly changed to a pollution charge) and 4 X 4s, Ferraris, Bentleys, etc etc, just exposes the sheer total hypocrisy of the politicians.
IF they were really genuine about drastically reducing CO2 emissions from vehicles they would impose an immediate ban on all private vehicles of over (say) 1.5 litres. Job done ! (Obviously, this would not apply to Ministerial cars !! - heaven forbid)
But of course they won't, because of the huge amounts of revenue they can screw out of the drivers of the vehicles which would be forced off the roads. This revenue, instead of being spent on improving the ROADS, is actually spent on family allowances for people with more that one wife and taxis for the Speaker's wife to pop down to Tesco in.
Personally, I think 4 X 4s are the most stupid, pointless vehicles on the roads, unless you are a farmer - when you get a Land Rover, not a Porsche or Mercedes to carry your s****y sheep in ! Who needs a 4 X 4 to cross Waitrose's flower beds ! But I would defend unto the death the right to............................etc, etc ! It's your money, after all.0 -

Throwing your toys out of your pram again then...
Agree with you tho. But I wouldn't say no to a nice chunky Land Cruiser to take to Waitrose... But I'm deliberately not pc - mainly because I soooo hate being told what to do - especially at my age!
I'm with you, work hard and drive what I damn well like! (Or afford...:D )
And don't call the poor sheep S****y. What've they done to you?Genie

My wife drives a Discovery 3, she drives it to work, she drives the children to school - it is her (our) democratic right to choose what we spend our money on. If anyone were to suggest she that she couldn't drive it because it was a 'big' car I suspect she would give that person 'both barrels'.
On a point of note, I doubt you have ever got stuck behind a Range Rover Sport being driven by a woman struggling to find 1st gear.... they are all automatic :rolleyes:0 -
iwanttosave,
you wont ever be held up by SWMBO in her hilux, in fact if you take more than a third of a second to dither about in front of her she'll be round you and gone, and like the lady Peterg she would not take kindly to abuse of her choice of vehicle, no handouts are contributing to our vehicles costs.
Most lady drivers i've seen are more than capable of driving their chosen chariots.
It's quite sad really how many people are unable to think for themselves over this and many other subjects, and feed on the latest propoganda spouted, and repeat the current mantra unquestioningly.0
